McShay listed out who he thought was the best draft pick for every team and this is the guy he picked. Like I said still trying to play catch up with this kid. So little out there on him just seems so weird that so many were so high on him yet so little was written about him.

The Broncos knew they had to add a defensive end with versatility after losing Malik Jackson in free agency. They did that with Gotsis, who is a perfect fit for Wade Phillips' system with his ability penetrate as an inside rusher and set the edge as a 5-technique. When I first watched his tape, I remember thinking This might be Malik Jackson. Gotsis has a lot of upside within this system. So does third-round safety Justin Simmons. He's a good man-to-man cover safety with the athleticism to improve within the structure of an elite defense.

That's what McShay wrote on ESPN the Insider. Out of all of our picks, that was the one he liked the most. Very interesting indeed. Now, he's got all the pressure on him.

Like I said just seems so weird to have a guy that so many in the NFL world loved yet we as fans knew so little about. I can understand the guys in the 5th round and beyond not being well known or if a team in the early rounds takes a huge reach but when I hear how many analyst loved this kid and how they were talking about teams asking them if he just might make it to the 3rd round for them it just leaves me baffled how little was said about him before the draft.

I am glad to hear so many in the know like this kid. Gives me hope that he will become something. I like the little I have seen and read on this kid. To me though our best pick value wise was Booker. Should have gone 2nd round and probably been the 2nd RB taken off the board. His injury definitely hurt him but otherwise huge value for the Broncos.

Honestly how I feel about this draft is the Broncos took 4 2nd round picks and a 3rd round pick. Paxton with needing some time probably should have been a 2nd round guy. If Gotsis is hyped up like we keep hearing then he went about where some thought he would go. Simmons was considered the best 3rd round pick made by many and had some analyst saying he should have gone in the 2nd round. And then Booker without injury is easily a 2nd round pick. At least that is how I see it so very happy with the value.

Paxton should have been a 2nd round guy, but the extra year of control (5yrs) a 1st pick gets - makes him a 1 as QB. He starts more ready than Oz was - and with an extra year of club control. I do love that.

Looks like Draftbreakdown is continuing to work and is getting more content out on this kid! Here is another game for people to watch...

I know lots of people are liking the pick, but I wasn't thrilled at the time of the pick - and even now think there were better options. But I' very happy with picks 1/3/4 so no major complaints from me!

I'm with you on this thought. Now I have watched more of the kid and can see why they see such potential in the kid. My biggest concern more has to do with his injury. This is a guy that if we are lucky is ready for training camp and the start of the season. Even then though what kind of shape will he be in to be ready and contribute? You then throw in the fact that this kid really only has 4 years of actual football experience so you realize he is a project. So my guess is the first year is more of a red shirt year that maybe you get him a bit of experience. So year 2 is where you hope this kid can emerge but then again it is more like he is a rookie than 2nd year guy in my opinion. I'm just not sure we see the true potential of this kid until maybe year 3 or 4 of this contract. I think there were more day 1 impact DE/DT's available at that point.

He push's the pocket over and over He is worth the Draft pick . Both games show me why our DL coach loved this kid !

So glad we drafted him .

You still going to be glad if he doesn't play much if at all this year due to his injury? ;)

Well looks like it paid off! They have given us one more video compared to just the one they had. I will say though they were both against top-15 teams so at least it shows him against some of his tougher competition of the year. From what I have seen from the two videos he has shown himself very well.
