rotation strategy

say the pirates have a good week. macdonald and burnett have great starts mon and tues and then again on sat and sun.
we are in a tight race with reds and cards.

do you start on thursday with whoever you left off with, ie, correia, or
do you come back with karstens (ample rest) then mcdonald, and then burnett, then correia and bedard.

that pitches mcdonald and burnett the max times with 4 days rest.

those last 2 games could mean something and we might miss giving our 2 studs that extra start if we dont recalibrate well coming out of the break.

what would you do.

If it is September, I'm alright with short rest. If it is July, I am not.

it wouldnt be short rest.
mcdonald and burnett get their usual 4 days, the other guys get longer.

it just skips correia and bedard a bit since there are 3 days off.

I see what you are saying.. I think Bedard could use the extra rest.. He has not been as sharp as of late.

If you were able to skip him once before the all star break and then he gets that rest... Maybe he would have the batteries charged in full for a run in the second half.

great news,
they just announced that they will skip everybody and let burnett start sunday as scheduled, then he will pitch the first game back on friday (they get 4 days off this year instead of the usual 3) and hopefully go with mcdonald, then karstens, and then correia/bedard.
using our best the max amount of starts, i was hoping for this reshuffling.

if only we could get wilson or owens a start in there to see if we can improve our 4/5 spots a bit and get an idea for the future.

Well McDonald has been the best pirate starter and I do not think it is really that close... But I am okay with the re-shuffling if it means we give Bedard a couple extra days of rest.

is what they are doing, I guess splitting up the stuff, but mainly I think its about the bullpen.

hope we dont have the last day of the season resting on correia instead of burnett. then burnett would go on 3 days rest, unless they inverse 2nd halfs of the first half.

that is good mcdonald got rewarded with hte "opening day" start off the break.

interesting point Sychmd... I will go look to see how hectic the schedule is at the end on espn.... Holy shit... they have 20 games in a row to finish out the season without a rest day.... That Sucks!!!

Their logic is clear. They don't want another three game series like with Baltimore where both McDonald and Burnett miss a start.

If Bedard comes back strong after the break and is pitching like he did in April and May this will be a moot point...
