5.72 BJ gets outrighted to the farm. He looked like one of the locals in Deliverance anyway. :pound:

Looks like the Phillies aren't picking up the 2015 option on pitcher Mike Adams. Adam LaRoche however has become available because the Nats aren't picking up his option either for 2015.

Rafael Soriano's 2105 option has not been picked up by Washington as well.

Adams is an enigma. Time to dump. It would actually be an improvement if we dumped Sizemore and got LaRoche with his .362 OBP, 26 HR, 93 RBI, .259, that is, if we don't mind another 36 year old hanging around. He's better than Howard too.

I agree jvett. Soriano may also fill the spot left by Burnett and since Adams is gone maybe Nola will make an appearance-and that's a big maybe.

I was thinking something similar. Adams was a $7 mil guy; Retardo is $2 mil. Burnett is $14 mil. So they should be able to make some serious changes dumping that $23 mil. Soriano is around $12 mil and he's mostly a reliever so that would make up for Adams. We need another starter and should be able to find one with the leftovers and additional cash. Nola would be a real bonus if he was suddenly primed and ready.

Now that Burnett is opting out for FA, we have some bucks to add say Nola.

What are you guys talking about? Soriano is a 35 year old closer who has never pitched more than 70 innings in a season. Now you're making him a starter? And you know Amaro can't sign a guy like that without giving him 3 or 4 years and all kinds of vesting shit. Retro, what does "add Nola" mean, and why do you need bucks for that? Nola is in the Phillies system and under their control for many years. I still say the only thing I'd want Ruben to even think of spending millions of dollars on is maybe that Cuban outfielder.

wait, Retro maybe you meant to say the Cuban guy (I forget his name) and said Nola by accident?

Yasmany Tomas is the Cuban guy. Maybe Retro was thinking of Nola Ryan!

I didn't realize Soriano was 35. His record was attractive at 3.19 and had over 65 appearances the last 3 years, but I think a starting pitcher should be the priority and put Soriano in the just in case bag.

Apparently I have confused Cedrique abit. Add Nola means to bring him up and put him the rotation. Of course we don't need bucks for that. Soriano is a stop-gapper. That would be down the road. Now that Burnett is a FA and so is Kendrick, perhaps we fill the spots with appopriate pitchers. Now if we can just find somebody to take Retardo and Howard. Is that better Cedrique?

Lol to the phillies adding soriano as they start to rebuild by going younger.
