Rondo wants to be 1st to win in L.A. and Boston

Entering this season, 33 players have played for both the Celtics and Lakers franchises -- and only Clyde Lovellette won a title with both teams. However, Lovellette won with the Minneapolis Lakers -- meaning Rondo could become the first to win a title with the Lakers, while in Los Angeles, and the Celtics, with whom he won the 2008 championship.

If the Lakers win the championship this year (hey we can dream)...

  • Rondo would be the first player to win a title with the Celtics & Lakers
  • LeBron would be the first player to lead 3 different franchises to a title (Horry and Salley won with 3 teams, but not as leading pieces)
but the BEST part would be...

  • Javale McGee would be the only active NBA player with a 3-peat.

I find all the qualifiers required to have these be true amusing.

Short answer - It's not going to happen.
true.

In order to win they need to bring in another major talent- and it just seems that these guys dont want to go there.

Who wants to play 2nd fiddle to a 35 year old LeBron?

Not Kyrie. Not Butler. Not Kawhi. Not George. Not Durant. The Celtics have SO many more assets to make a Davis deal if he ever becomes available.

A Khris Middleton level player just does not get them there.

Barring some kind of miracle run...he's not going to be a Laker long enough to worry about it.

Same mantra as all summer, huh?

hey i THOUGHT that Paul George was going there at one point- I didnt think LeBron would want to waste one of the last years of his prime.

I am just basing it off of what we have seen the last few months.

Maybe not this season but Rondo could stick around for future seasons.

I'd be surprised if he did.

Dudes 32. He probably wants one last semi big payday.

About the only way I see him sticking around with the Lakers would be if his FA dragged out after the season, the Lakers landed a big time FA and he signed a lowball contract because he thought he could get another ring.

I could see him resigning if the Lakers whiff on the major guys in free agency this offseason.

Yeah, you're probably right.

Kind of like KCP. If the Lakers had landed 2 top FA's, then I doubt KCP is still with the team. But since they signed only 1, he's back.

Horry was a leading piece on all his teams.

Paul George says L.A. 'is where I wanted to go'

If the Lakers wanted too- they could without a doubt have Paul George right now instead of Lonzo Ball.

Will they learn from this lesson and make a deal for a big talent at some point this year, or will they gamble and try and keep all the young guys and proceed to free agency?

should be interesting.

I HIGHLY doubt any Laker fan out there would not trade Ball for George right now.
