Might be applicable to compare him to another Dallas professional athlete: Dirk.
Forever, Dirk was seen as soft and people said the Mavs couldn't win a championship with him as their centerpiece. Then, that one fateful season where he lifted the team on his back during the postseason and they brought home a title, everything changed.
The perception of Romo would change similarly if he ever won a SB for dallas. Right now, he is comparable to Danny White in cowboy QB lore. If he wins a SB, he will be elevated to just under Roger and Troy.
