"Face trade"- as if the Phillies have any leverage whatsoever.

Rollins wants to stay with the team until he breaks the all time Phillies hit record. He needs only 61 hits to do it. With a no trade clause intact, he will not be traded anytime soon.

Even without the no trade, that goofy vesting option makes him virtually untradeable anyway. Look at Detroit for example: Iglesias is out for a few months, but even if they did want Rollins to play for them this year and even if Rollins wanted to play for Detroit this year it still wouldn't work. If Rollins actually played well he would end up getting enough At Bats for that option to kick in and then next year when Iglesias came back they'd be stuck with an 11 million dollar reserve.

And even if Rollins wanted to be traded, and he didn't have that vesting option, his production has fallen off so horribly that still nobody would be interested. On the positive side, if there truly is a rift between Sandberg and him, then Rollins could just become an expensive bench player.

Regardless, it's kind of a shame to see a guy like Rollins prepare to leave Philly on such a bad note.

Detroit really needs a short stop. Again. Like last year. So, fingers crossed on the clownish front office making it happen.

Detroit is a contender and guaranteed playing time for Rollins. Might be good enough to wave the clause.

I think Sandberg is using the best strategy in baseball to force some people's hands that he obviously wants outta here. Sandberg is going with Galvis, he's not going to say much about it especially to Rollins, and he is going to make Rollins so miserable that Rollins will waive his no-trade clause and beg Amaro to ship him out of Philly. I have seen this before and it is a pretty darn good strategy especially when you have an obvious old player who took the money and a dumbass GM that... ... well you all know the rest.

Although he did have this to say:

“If we’re in absolutely last place with nowhere to go and change is obviously on the horizon, then at that point I’d think about it. But anything short of a complete disaster, I’m wearing red and white pinstripes.”

But at the very least, he's not being traded before late July.

Yeah, I saw that article. Another case where Rollins was better off say less.
