The title of this thread should be changed to:
Jackasses who sued the NFL for 765 million ruining football
This is one of those damned if you do damned if you don't situations for the NFL. They get sued for all the head injuries so they make rules to protect the head but then are now catching flack for increasing injuries to other parts of the body.
Plus not sure what you really expect when a 200 lb. guy goes up against a 270 lb. guy? Coaches from a young age tell smaller players to go low on big guys and take out the legs to tackle them. Just so happened he caught him right when he planted his foot. Just a hair quicker or slower and Gronk just goes barreling over the top of him and most likely walks away. Just an unlucky break of how the whole play played out.

Goodell doesn't make the rules...
I wouldn't blame former players, the rule needed to be made to take away head contact. It seems like players are fined for the most ridiculous fouls now though.
Not that I disagree with much of the video , but I have to ask....how long have you lived in your parent's basement with the blanket for a wall? Gronk is injury prone..it was bound to happen to him.

I agree they should get fined for taking head shots, but it's getting a little ridiculous. It seems like if it's a big hit they're getting flagged, regardless of the target area.
Injury prone....look it up. Gronk might be pictured there by now. BTW ,just making fun of some guy in a basement freaking out about football. We all do it and often...just not on video.Seriously? That's not me for the millionth time. Just a crazy browns fan who lives in Youngstown, OH.
This wasn't a case of being injury prone. Anyone's acl would have been done in that situation. You could say he has bad injury luck, I wouldn't say injury prone.

..yet they let teams use crappy turf and offer no real guidelines on what should be a league standard. RG3's career is pretty much over for him because in part for their home stadium.Again this is where when a company is sued to the tune that the NFL was they usually swing a little too hard to the other side of things to show that they are working to improve the issue. For the NFL they have told referees that if it looks close to throw the flag as this again is another way of showing not only other players in the NFL to go lower but also to the courts that the NFL is doing everything they can to make sure the head injuries lessen. I agree they have gotten a little crazy and this is why as much as some would fight against this I think any personal foul or major penalty that is more than 10 yards should be challengeable to make sure to take the subjective call out of the referees hands. Some of these hits and calls this year have been game changers.
Looks like he is out for the season....again. Maybe Brady's pouting will help.I look forward to his rants after every loss. Gets me through my Sunday

It is posslble that they can set standards on what fields they have to work with...this is a billion dollar + business. I would guess the next option would to just play flag football to avoid some injuries. I might imagine in the future having boxing or MMA matches with oversized foam hand gloves.I understand there are other things they can do. Some of that though is not actually up to the league such as Oakland's stadium because it is used for multiple purposes would have to have not only the NFL agree to setting a standard but also baseball as well and I just don't see that happening. Also hard to set a standard when each stadium according to weather changes as well. Can't ask dome stadiums to have real grass as it couldn't grow. Stadiums with real grass are usually found in bad weather areas of the country as say when it rains or snows it is easier for it to soak into the ground than try to clear it off of artificial turf. Throw in there is disparity among players of what types of fields they like to play on as some fields benefit a certain type of player over another. So not sure you can make a one size fits all league standard on that. Now I do think that they could set higher standards of what the field should feel like as I always hate when the Broncos have to go to Oakland as that field is about as bad as it gets and you just know some player is going to have something happen to them.
