As much as I love and appreciate Ted Thompson's draft and develop philosophy I think this year may signify a few changes to that philosophy. It's not necessarily a bad thing to spend some money in free agency, I'm not saying break the bank, but I don't think TT can be afraid to spend money. The last thing I want is to waste years of Rodgers' prime on developing talent when we could be creating a winner.

I'd agree, but there aren't many FA's that are worth what they get, especially lately. I'm not letting TT or MM completely off the hook, but I do think part of what we're seeing is a result of bad luck. I blame TT for not shoring up the back up QB position. The rest??? I hate our oline. Besides sitton, we don't have shit. the rookie LT is doing better than I thought, and I do feel good about him going forward, but he isn't yet what I'd expect for a LT protecting one of the leagues best qb's.

But we also have 2 1st round OL guys that have been injured. One so horrifically it's been 2 years and he finally saw some very limited action last weekend. Another they were hoping to push for a starting center position broke his ankle in training camp.

Will our Oline always suck? or will it get a lot better when we get the talent back on the field? I do blame MM for being so damn loyal to his staff. I do think he's a good coach overall, but I do think Campen and Slocum have needed replacing years ago. I used to give Capers a little more leash because of all the injuries, but lately and historically it seems to be the same problems week after week.

If they play better the rest of the year, i'm guessing he still keeps his job, the injuries will have bought him more time. If they continue to tank, I can't help but think he's replaced. Though I think Campen and Slocum should be the absolute first to go.

As for the FA thing, who? They have 16 (? i think) of their own this year, some of whom I'll gladly see go, EDS included. Any oline that has him or newhouse on it is an oline in desperate need of help, but some are going to need to be re-signed. They need to rescind their offer to Raji, offer him 5, he's nowhere near worth 8 mil per. Jones, Shields, Pickett, Finley, Jolly, Neal are all guys that should be brought back, and I know not all will be. They'll have to be replaced too. If you can't sign your own FA's, why sigh someone else's? If you can't afford to keep your's, you're going to get cheaper ones from the draft

I completely agree that in time the offensive line could be pretty good if all the injured players that TT drafted come back healthy and play well. Sherrod and Bulaga are both big investments, and I'm excited to see an offensive line with those guys at the book ends with Sitton and Lange and potentially Tretter(the rookie who broke his ankle in camp) at center. I've liked what I see from the rookie LT from Colorado, but he definitely shouldn't be playing LT in the NFL. The last time I have to watch Marshall Newhouse play on this offensive line can't come soon enough

I definitely think Jolly and Shields need to be kept. I believe that guys like Mike Neal and Nick Perry would be better served as hand in the ground defensive ends, rather than try to make them 3-4 OLB's, but I would say re-sign Neal.

I think TT needs to look at safety, Nick Collins isn't walking through the door. MD Jennings shouldn't be back there starting next to Morgan Burnett, I know injuries have hurt that position, but I think you have to at least look at someone who can be a play maker back there.

Back up qb should probably be addressed, but it sounds like Coach Mac like Scott Tolzien, and I'm interested in what Tolzien can do with an offseason of MM working with him on footwork.

Not having Aaron could be a good thing for the overall well being of the team. No Aaron exposes all of the issues this team has, and forces TT to look at them and hopefully fix them.

100% agree. Not having Collins has left a huge void in this defense, and one they haven't come close to filling. I think Safety is the weakest part on that Defense. I actually don't think it would take much different to have that group producing like top 15 team. So close, yet so far away it seems.

I actually thought it might be good for them this year :) Boy was a fucking wrong on that one. I was hoping it would force the offense to become good at other things. I thought the Oline would respond a bit and become better run blockers at least and could learn to win games with Aaron's arm and without. I thought the loss of Rodgers would make players like Matthews and Raji respond on defense. I thought they'd step up, not take a couple steps back.

I still see good effort by individuals on the defense, but they don't play like a good defensive unit, that's obvious to everyone.

me too, he can throw the ball, he showed that much. Can he learn the game and all the little things that go along with it? We'll find out I guess, but he can throw it, which is more than most of the backups they've had go thru here lately.

But until we get the Oline fixed it probably doesn't matter. I knew we'd be fine if Rodgers didn't get hurt, but he did. Without one of the best at avoiding pressure and throwing on the run playing QB, this offense can't work because the Oline is that bad.

If he runs the risk of furthering the injury, shelf him for sure. If he gets cleared though, I think Rodgers is to big of a competitor to hang em up for the year.
