Oh, well. It's all about the draft then, I guess.

I think the Packers are close to being toast so that might be the right decision

That division is not good. They could still be in it if they dont throw in the towel.

If he can play, do it. If not, dont. But last year Woodson said that the defense had reached a point where they didnt worry so much about getting scored on. And the year before Rodgers said that they weren't overly concerned with developing a run game because the pass game was so effective. They had created an environment that treated Rodgers as if he was the alpha and omega of their football team. Throwing in the towel before you have 9 losses not because of injury but because of lack of confidence in the team just encourages that even more because that division sucks and a team could certainly win it at 8-8/9-7.

Essentially they're two games behind the Lions with four games left to go - they'd have to go at least 3-1 and the Lions go 1-3 to have any shot - it just looks really, really bleak - and the defense was torched, partly because the offense didn't do any good and it caused the defense to be out too long, but that's not a good sign when the defense is giving up 40 points, especially to a divisional rival like the Lions

If the Packers lose on Sunday there really is no reason to bring Rodgers back this year.

9-6-1 MIGHT win the NFC North. Looking at the 7-5 Lions schedule, it is very possible the go 2-2 down the stretch and finish 9-7.

Losing to the Lions pretty much sealed it for GB. Not that I don't expect the Lions to lose at least 2 more games, because let's face it, as badly as GB was beaten on Thanksgiving, Josh Sittons remarks weren't false in anyway.

They are the Lions, they are incredibly talented and incredibly poorly coached, undisciplined, and will find a way to lose a few games when they matter. About the only reason they will most likely win the division is because nobody else seems to want to step up and take it this year. They'll try and give it away, but I don't know if there are enough games left at this point.

If Rodgers is healthy, he should play. If he isn't, he shouldn't. I don't believe you ever play for a draft pick, unless you are a fucking loser. At the same time there isn't any reason to rush him back if there's no post season to play for either.

I'm not sure this GB team can come back this year even with Rodgers. Their offensive line, like usual is fucking horrible. They look semi passable because Rodgers makes them look that way. he has a very smooth and uncanny way of avoiding the rush to give himself a bit more time to find an open receiver and he's incredibly accurate when throwing on the move. His presence also opens up the running game because other than Sitton, our offensive line can't seem to move in any direction but backwards in the face of a defensive player.

Beyond that, I think our defense is gassed and beat down. They certainly have looked it the past couple weeks. They've spent a lot of time on the field, and they certainly haven't helped themselves out much in that regard, but it looks to be snowballing on them now. And the same problems that have plagued them for a couple seasons are still there. They all seem to be playing different schemes within the same play and still they don't have the players coached up, or the playbook dumbed down. Can't figure out who is more stupid, the coaches or the players, but it's obvious that neither of them are getting it.

Orrrrr, it could be that our offense was rolling all day. Sure, they made some mistakes, but GB really couldn't stop us besides those turnovers. Our offense clicking all day caused their D to get tired and enable us to gash em late in the game with our running attack.

even if the division is 'sort of' within reach, do they really have a chance against the top tier teams in the NFC this january?

they may decide to shut him down and avoid a re-injury or worse injury in that collarbone and i wouldn't blame them in this situation. rodgers is way too important to that organization.

I bet Rodgers will have to downgrade out of "grill class".

Rodgers is such a good player. He is the difference. It reminds me of when Steve Young got concussed and the Niners one only one more game. Without Aaron the Pack is done. They need to address that in the draft.

yeah, having 50 yds of total offense into the 3rd quarter for GB had nothing to do with it. it was all Detroit :) and a competent offense with a halfway decent defense, would have slaughtered Detroit. They make too many mistakes and you're still not going anywhere.

GB had more drives with negative fucking yards than positive. You don't think the complete ineptness of their offense had anything to do with that game? From the 2nd quarter till their last drive in the 4th they had possessions of 1 yd, -4yds, -8 yds, -1, -3, a positive possession with 38yds ended with a TO, then followed up with -5 and -1 yd possessions.

Your offense was "rolling" I guess like they always do. Are capable of huge points and plays, yet somehow always find a way to lose or dig themselves a huge hole from which to climb out of. It's been the same story for a couple seasons with Detroit. There's a reason Stafford has only beaten GB one time in 5 years. a well coached and rolling team would have beating GB by 50 on Thanksgiving. What did Stafford have 4 TO's vs. the Bucs, then they follow it up with another 4 TO game to GB? There's a reason the Lions rarely make the playoffs. You can count on them to give the other team plenty of opportunities to win the game, just like they did against a gutless packer team on turkey day.

Problem is, you don't get the luxury of playing those types of teams in the playoffs very often. The Lions have loads of talent, and very little to show for it.

Of course I do, but our offense basically couldn't be stopped that day. Regardless of your shitty offensive showing, we were still rolling up yards and making your D play a lot longer. That played a huge part in your defense being tired as shit in the 4th and getting gashed left and right.

Always lose? Don't get it twisted. These aren't the same Lions you're used to seeing. Are we still a bit inconsistent? You bet. But we're learning to close out games a bit better. You just seem to be a bit butt hurt that we have a great shot to win the division this year is all.

It would take the work of God or the Lions to not win the division this year. It's your's congrats. But they are the same old lions, it's why they lost to the Bucs. It's why they had another 4 turnovers against the Packers who are at or near the league bottom in forcing turnovers this year. It's why they will lose early in the playoffs

Be thankful you beat the Packers once with Stafford. They had 6 drives and combined for a total of 5 yards. Congrats on beating a team that was obviously playing well :)

don't really see a reason to risk further injury to their franchise player

at best, the Packers would finish 9-6-1 which will not get them in the post season so there isn't any incentive to have him playing anymore this year

As a Packer fan, if Aaron doesn't play against Atlanta, and we lose the game and are basically eliminated from playoff contention than might as well let Aaron sit the rest of the year and get him and Randall Cobb and everyone else healthy and ready to go for next season.

As much as I love and appreciate Ted Thompson's draft and develop philosophy I think this year may signify a few changes to that philosophy. It's not necessarily a bad thing to spend some money in free agency, I'm not saying break the bank, but I don't think TT can be afraid to spend money. The last thing I want is to waste years of Rodgers' prime on developing talent when we could be creating a winner.
