It's a win for the Astros for just getting rid of Giles. Of all the smart moves they made, I won't say it was dumb because hindsight is 20-20, but imagine how loaded they could be now if they decided to pass on that one.
Are you talking about the Giles-Phillies trade? The best player they gave up is Vince Velasquez- who's had a 4.3 WAR with the Phillies in 3 years. Not bad, and he has been good this year with a 4.02 ERA and 3.72 FIP in 107.1 IP for a 2.0 WAR, but I don't think the Astros are hurting for starting pitching right now. Though- if he were with the Astros- they'd probably have converted him to a reliever long ago.It's a win for the Astros for just getting rid of Giles.
