I think it was someone in the media making an assumption that Kerrigan wanted to be traded because he isn't on the field a lot. If he feels like that he would be a lot smarter to wait to be a FA then to request a trade. I believe he likes being part of this area. I think he may have ideas of being part of the media when his playing career is over.

Players say that all the time. Scheriff said he wants to stay in DC but he and his agent do not appear to be acting like it. Sure, for 40 million a year, I am sure Scheriff would stay in DC.

Regarding Kerrigan, once Adam Schefter stated it, I believe it as he is probably one of the most reliable NFL reporters out there. If Kerrigan wants to stay...good.
