RIP....

He didn't last long as the Penguins GM but did plenty of positive things like: The Barrasso trade, drafting Recchi and helping them make the playoffs for the first time in a while.

RIP.

hell of a debut season:
For 1969–70, the Chicago Black Hawks claimed him from Montreal on waivers, known at the time as the "intra-league draft". Esposito had a spectacular season with Chicago, posting a 2.17 GAA and setting a modern-day NHL record with fifteen shutouts, for which he won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league's best rookie.[4] He also took the Vezina Trophy[4] and was named to the First All-Star team at season's end. He also was runner-up for league MVP (Hart Memorial Trophy).

RIP Tony O. I met him in the summer of ‘89 in a bar near where I grew up. John Davidson and him were hanging out together and drunk 21 year old me went over and talked to them. Nobody in the place knew who they were even though he was GM of the Penguins at the time. JD bought me a beer and we spoke hockey for about 15 minutes. One of those things I’ll never forget.

Canuck alumn, too.
just amazing he was putting up sub 2.25 GAA and 915+ save% in those pads with the defensive structure of the day.

Also, without Tony, the Soviets win the Summit Series in '72

He was easily one of the greats. Pancreatic cancer is a death sentence. So sorry.
