Never done heard of him. RIP
Thanks fknhippie for the thread. As a lifetime Dodger fan, Thomson broke my heart with that homer off of Branca in 1951. I remember it like it was yesterday. RIP Ralph.

You probably know this but Thompson and Branca became close friends later, they often toured around together signing baseballs and talking about that moment.
Yes I do. The "Home Run Derby Show" is one of my all time favorites. The Home Run Derby was a 1960 television show that was held at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles pitting the top sluggers of Major League Baseball against each other in nine-inning home run contests. Not too many people know that there was a Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, where the old Pacific Coast League Los Angeles Angels use to play, before the Dodgers moved out West. The stadium was an exact replica of Wrigley Field in Chicago. In the 50's I lived about 2 miles from Wrigley Field in Los Angeles.I did. I could sit and watch clips from old baseball games forever. This used to be one of my favorites. Do you remember the old "Home Run Derby" show?
Thanks for the info. I did know that both became close friends later on.You probably know this but Thompson and Branca became close friends later, they often toured around together signing baseballs and talking about that moment.
Who's Jimmy Collins again?Yep. I have one of those baseballs in my collection, along with a picture of the "Shot" signed by both as well. Class act who will be missed. RIP.
