Any word on new ownership for both the Hawks and or the Blazers? Will the team stay in the family?

Just saw this too. Horrible. Only 65

65 is what got me.

I didn't realize he was sick until about 3 weeks ago when I read a story about it.

Several years ago I'd thought he looked kind of frail. But again, didn't know.

It shows that any form of that insidious thing called cancer is money proof.

I've got a friend in Vancouver I've know since 1973 at UBC. He is an honours chemistry guy and smart as fuck.

His work has been in cancer research since he got out of university. Got his name on some "papers".

He'll likely retire shortly after fighting the C fight his whole adult life. And no closer to any wide ranging cure.

Such a shitty fucking disease.

I like to remember the development and accomplishments of first rate guys like Allen. He attended private school with close friend Bill Gates. The two honed their own programming skills in the school lab and were actually reprimanded for abusing their computer lab time. It is said they enjoyed dumpster diving for computer programming code. LOL.

Allen achieved a perfect 1600 SAT score and attended WSU. Gates went on to Harvard, and both dropped out to pursue programming and later founded Microsoft, named by Allen.

They bought QDOS from programmer Tim Paterson for a meager $50,000, redoing it into MSDOS, which they licensed to IBM for their Personal Computer, thereby assuring their future wealth and success. One of the greatest financial coups in history.

Allen was one of the richest men in the world, at $20 billion, and like Gates, was a huge philanthropist. RIP.

To all fans of professional sports teams...Mr Allen is exactly the type of owner you get if you are lucky.
He prefers to stay out of the news.
Very deep pockets that has no issue spending what ever it takes to field a 1st class product.
He gives the FO enough rope to succeed or hang themselves.

The perfect owner for any fan.
You can see the pride and determination in his face when raising the 12th man flag at the 2013 NFGCC.

Thanks for posting these. I guess we'll just have to wait and see? I can't see Seattle relocating. They are thriving in that market. Unless a new owner takes over and wants stadium ownership and the current group isn't willing to sell. That may be the only way.

Wow, didn't see that coming. RIP Paul Allen. I hope the next Seahawk's owner is as good as you were.

I doubt it. Paul Allen was the perfect owner in many ways. Didn't originally have the passion of football as he did basketball. But he had the means to step in and save the team from moving in 90s. From there he made the team his baby and the last 20 years of Seahawks football have overall been pretty good from where they were. Also not a lot of owners would eat a coaching contract after one year like he did with Jim Mora. But he wrote the check because it was clear the situation wasn't going to work and it helped lead the team to their first SuperBowl with Pete Carroll. Wasn't a meddling owner either, let the football people do their job. This just sucks on multiple levels

mid 60's is that magic age for cancer and it sucks

It's not a matter of "if" you get it, it's what kind at this point.

RIP
