Getting old doesn't help either...nobody gets to live forever.

I know. I'm 59. I've done my share of living but I can still swim 2 miles.

I don't feel old. I don't really look old. But I see guys every day younger who do. So I'm not a Dorian Gray and I fully expect something sometime to hit me. Just watch, I'll be unlucky and get shingles or some shit.

So as I said in an inspired moment during tonight's happy hour/dinner period, "If a rock star we grew up with didn't die young (Morrison, Hendrix, Allman, Joplin), they're dying soon...."

And in the last while we've seen many passing.

I hear that, being 60 myself and having been told my days are numbered gives me pause to say the least. What sucks about it though when I think about it is Charles Manson and Sirhan Sirhan are both still alive.

Nobody said life was fair. At least nobody talking to me...

I live unfair. I have a 34 year old epileptic son who lives with us. Picking him up off the floor, watching him in the shower. It's our normal.

But that's entirely different from ones own mortality.

I haven't given it a lot of thought as things as I say seem good.

But it only takes one trip to the doctor to change that.

I'm sure that's how it went with Joe Cocker. Flying high on Friday, shot down on Monday.

And Bobby Keys. And Jack Bruce. Etc. All recent departures.
