The only good thing is that Jerry took it with him. Cancer is a stupid disease. When it kills it's victim, it commits suicide by taking it's source of life.

I don’t mean to go to the dark side here but I wonder if his kid being a giant fucking asshole contributed to his poor health.

It's not dark at all and is a fair question. I really respect the way he responded to criticism about his parenting contributing to his son's behavior: "Maybe I could have done things differently, but I love him and didn't know better".. (That's paraphrased from my memory). He denied nothing and WHO could have known better.
