47 Years old and he cashes out on a motorcycle.

No circumstances, but I'd guess that he went out like he played. Doing what he loved and doing the best he could with what he had.

Farewell D.P. May you find the glory you were never given.

I have such memories of his time with the Patriots. He started as an unexpected performer and quickly progressed into a reliable member of probably the most unknown group of receivers to ever carry a team to a championship (and they did that 3 times).

Will anyone forget that colts game where he caught a touchdown pass, ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass?

RIP David.

Motorcycle riding ain't no joke. Your fault, their fault, nobody's fault, but one thing is damn near guaranteed every time. It's gonna be bad to really bad news for the motorcycle rider.

I have nothing to say except this is a sad day for Pats fans.
Arguably, not as sad as for his friends and family.

This is a good read from somebody much better at writing things than I.

I ride every single day all year long. Commute 20 miles each way on Rt 5 in Los Angeles where splitting lanes is legal(and fun) and traffic is insane. My opinion is it's always the riders fault. People do stupid fucking shit and the rider has to be ready for it, or don't ride.

And ya, when something does go wrong it doesn't usually bode well for the rider.

p.s. Indians are great bikes.
I'm not into Indians, Harley's Triumph's or any of the classic road bikes.
My last street bike was a Yamaha RD400. Fast and maneuverable - enough that I never got into a wreck.
I could do so much more with that bike than ANY bike available - now or then. Very nimble.
Riding a big heavy bike in traffic scares the hell out of me!

When I was 25 I acquired my first bike. On my first ride out I told myself I would take it easy. Go slow, learn the bike, get a feel for riding. I had never ridden prior. I thought prudence would be in order.
About 15 minutes in I looked down at the Speed-OH!-Meter.

105.

105 was me holding myself back, ensuring I went "SLOW" on my first ride.

I was instantly afraid of myself becoming comfortable and not holding myself back or even worse, letting it loose and testing it's limits.

Nope.
Haven't had a bike since.

One of these.

I currently have a Kawasaki Versys and it's a fantastic commuter bike. A Ninja Engine but a touring feel to it. My last bike was a Suzuki Intruder and I loved the classic style of it. I may end up getting a Harley if I can find something with the same vibe. But the Versys is a great bike. I have this exact bike.

0-60 in 4 seconds flat.
Could stop from 30 mph in 21'

These bikes pictured above have a better top speed and handle well at high speed.
They cannot maneuver in traffic like the old 2-stroke cafe racers.
