His first head coaching gig was with us and he brought us instant credibility, not to mention five straight NFC West titles!

I remember the playoff losses to the Vikings and Cowboys like it was yesterday!

Chuck Knox you made us proud!

RIP

For some reason I thought he had already passed? My first memories of him were with the Seahawks. Zorn, Curt Warner, Kreig, Easely, and Largeant

DJ - He didn't leave. He was fired for failing to advance further in the playoffs. Believe it or not this still happens, i.e. Shottenheimer was 14 - 2 with the Chargers and was fired.

RIP Coach Dolomite!

A Champion in breaking the NFL's Color line for sure, if you didn't know.

I'll always remember 'Ground Chuck' however for his 'first' stint with the Rams and his 5 strait NFC West titles!.... Always finishing the season with at least double digit wins in an era with only 14 game seasons!

Never for his tenure under "Madame Ram"!

For the record, Knox signed a 5 year deal with the Bills to move on after Pat Haden's infamous 'Mud Bowl' in the post season.

He was not fired until his second stint with the Rams and well after Carroll Rosenbloom's death. Thank you Queen Idiot!

Still, imagine taking 5 different QB's to 5 straight titles coaching for Carroll Rosenbloom!

WOW!

Yes it was a different era, but still remarkable none the less!

RIP Coach, you will be not only missed, but remembered fondly!

He was the head coach of the Rams for 5 full seasons, they won the division all five seasons with three different quarterbacks. Just didn't have the talent. RIP Chuck Knox, thanks for everything.

What he did with the Rams was immeasurable on a number of levels and I wanted to hang that Queen Idiot for getting rid of the guy when he was going to eventually break-through and win it all. I hated that airhead bitch from the get-go and will always hate what she did to a perennial powerhouse that this man nearly single-handedly constructed!!

He did have talent though, you don't win 57 games in (5) 14 game seasons without talent.

Just struggled vs a freakin Dynasty in the Dallas Cowboys, who went to 5 Super Bowls in 9 years in the 70's AND the freakin Purple People Eaters of the 70's in the way of the Minnesota Vikings defense who went to 3 Super Bowls in 4 years during that same era. The Vikes had a hell of a defense from the late 60's through the 70's.

Getting past both of those teams was usually the requirement in the post season, and as I recall, he could beat one, just not the other keeping him out of the big one during those 5 years.

And of the 14 games he lost in the regular season, it usually included one to either the Cowboys or the Vikings almost every year too.

Yea Vita. I remember those years when we would win the division and then either face Dallas or Minnesota at some point in the playoffs. I would hold my breath every time and every year we were disappointed as either Dallas or Minnesota would be headed to the big dance until 1978-1979 when we went into Dallas and that pass by Ferragamo to Drew Hill over the middle was a miracle. Man what a relief that game was. We finally got over the hump!

That is what pissed me-off so badly about that Queen Idiot. I knew if we lost the snooperbowl, Chuck would bring us all the way back but the rest is history and we were in for a long 20 years of frustration until Dick Vermeil finally got us over the last hurdle.
