Rest in peace, Mr. Starr; you were one of the original "great ones".

Condolences to the Starr family, and Green Bay Packer nation

I got to see him play the Cowboys in the NFL Championship game in Dallas. I feel fortunate.

Players of today could learn a lesson from the way he carried himself.

RIP Bart.

Likely past his prime, but I got to see him play some as a kid...truly one of the best to ever play.

From those that knew him, equally great as a man.

RIP...Bart Starr

I have no problem saying Starr was the greatest playoff QB, but it kills me when some point to a supporting cast as the reason why some QB's are successful. Such bull shit and total lack for understanding all the responsibilities associated with the position of NFL QB. The QB decisions made throughout a game or not made is second to no other position in all of team sports. Starr had great players and perhaps the best coach ever, but it was he that made it all happen. I'm sure Lombardi would agree.

I was saddened to read about this. RIP to a man who will continue to epitomize the term "icon," not only for the Packers organization but for the NFL as a whole.

Eh guy made it to 85. Gotta die at some point. No need to be sad/upset/depressed about this, he checked out at a good age.

And back in his playing days the QB called the signals as most teams didn't have an offensive coordinator. The only team I know of that had plays sent in were the Cleveland Browns when Paul Brown was the coach. I'm not sure if Tom Landry called the plays when he coached the Cowboys.

But he struggled for five years prior to his passing because of the after effects of a stroke suffered in 2014. That is what makes it sad.

Jesus the guy made it to 80 then while doing pretty well. I mean really? He did fine. I'll extend an olive branch, sucks to lose what seemed like a nice guy, but it's gotta happen eventually.

The guy probably banged more college broads than basically every Hooplan combined and made a fuck ton of money and enjoyed it all the way into his 80s. Sympathy? Zero.

Bart was a devoted Christian and I can't envision him out banging broads in college.

Perhaps for the family?

Guy lived to 85... if you didn't say what you needed to him by now, go fuck yourself.

As for the grandchildren, they don't fuckin' care. "Is Christmas and my Birthday still happening and did Grandpa Bart leave me a shit ton of money?" "Yep." Done.
