Rest in peace, Mr. Starr; you were one of the original "great ones".

missed it by this muchHe was before my time but I think Starr was the Troy Aikman of his day: anyone who watched him play seems to think he was an all timer despite his mediocre stats.
And back in his playing days the QB called the signals as most teams didn't have an offensive coordinator. The only team I know of that had plays sent in were the Cleveland Browns when Paul Brown was the coach. I'm not sure if Tom Landry called the plays when he coached the Cowboys.I have no problem saying Starr was the greatest playoff QB, but it kills me when some point to a supporting cast as the reason why some QB's are successful. Such bull shit and total lack for understanding all the responsibilities associated with the position of NFL QB. The QB decisions made throughout a game or not made is second to no other position in all of team sports. Starr had great players and perhaps the best coach ever, but it was he that made it all happen. I'm sure Lombardi would agree.
But he struggled for five years prior to his passing because of the after effects of a stroke suffered in 2014. That is what makes it sad.Eh guy made it to 85. Gotta die at some point. No need to be sad/upset/depressed about this, he checked out at a good age.

Bart was a devoted Christian and I can't envision him out banging broads in college.Jesus the guy made it to 80 then while doing pretty well. I mean really? He did fine. I'll extend an olive branch, sucks to lose what seemed like a nice guy, but it's gotta happen eventually.
The guy probably banged more college broads than basically every Hooplan combined and made a fuck ton of money and enjoyed it all the way into his 80s. Sympathy? Zero.

Perhaps for the family?
