This guy would have been a great teammate. Not to mention a great guy to bullshit with over about 10 beers at the bar.

A very funny guy. 89 is a pretty good run for a guy who was about 100 lbs overweight. RIP

Really a funny guy. I always liked watching him when he was on a talk show.

He was one of the funniest guys (overall - not just athletes) in an interview situation. I remember watching a local show he did in Baltimore & he was so funny with his stories & his overall kind of dislike for some of the current players. RIP Artie.

As a kid, I used to love watching NFL films because of his interviews.

I remember a story about him as a player. He was so fat and slow the coaches used him as a litmus test to cut rookies the first day of camp. They would all collectively race Art and the guys he beat got cut.

Not only a great football player but he was one of the best, and funniest storytellers ever in sports.

I bought his book Fatso and laughed my ass off. It's a funny read.

This one is a bit long but classic. This is the show from Baltimore that I previously mentioned & just how i vaguely remembered it. This certainly goes back a ways - it was when the Redskins were making their last SB run.

I only watched the first 3-4 minutes & already Artie ripped about a half dozen NFL players at the time (including Elway - since he was no doubt not well liked in Baltimore). Good stuff when you have a few minutes.

Damn. I worked at a country club for 7 years and each year there was an outing where a bunch of different athletes would play. I met guys like Joe Montana, Cal Ripken, Brett Hull. Art Donovan was hands down my favorite. He was probably about 85 or so then, didn't play but I got to hang out and talk to him for about 45 minutes and he was still as quick witted as ever. He was the best.
