Always liked the guy. Just always a short notch below the best of his era but still a solid player. I believe his last MLB hit was #3000?

These stats bear out my remembrances of his ability. Averaged 90 RBI, .297 with 23 homers. Pretty good. Did have 3007 hits though not 3000 like I thought.
Perhaps he was a lights out defender. I seem to remember that he was a 1 in STRAT-O_MATIC in right field.Rest In Peace Mr. Tiger.

I guess he was popular with the media and that is why he got in on the first ballot. I never liked that aspect of the voting. I mean, no one in their right mind would choose him over DiMaggio and he didn't make the first ballot.

So Kaline's war of 92.8 hands down better than DiMaggio's 79..1.
Kaline has more at bats , Home runs, and hits. Was a better defender.
I can see the majority taking Kaline over Dimaggio.
