I mean he's a star, but I see this as being your classic rangers signing

What are the Rag$ fans going to do now?

They cannot make fun of the Devils prospect pool
They cannot make fun of the Kovalchuk contract
They cannot continue with the Dawes, Dubinsky > Parise insults

All they have left is to threaten us with Marty declining.

Easy, we're the Devils and everything we do is wrong and they're the Rangers, they can never do wrong...thats the way it will always be to Rags fans

I bet Richards will not play more than 5 years with the Rag$.

Sather isn't afraid to shit on people if they prevent him from signing the next big free agent. He'll be in Hartford for the final 4 years of his career whether he likes it or not.

Because the last three years are at a huge cap hit, for no money. I have to believe a floor team LIKE FLORIDA will probably jump all over something like this later on. Also, I'm not convinced NM clauses actually mean anything anymore.

I highly doubt it. They already have 16 players under contract and only need 3 forwards and 3 (3-7) defensemen. They have 16M in cap space still.

Am I the only one who thinks 6.7 mil per year is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much to pay for a guy who's only toipped 25 goals twice, never reached 30, only topped 90 points twice and is -72 for his 11 year career?? He benefitted greatly from a very weak UFA pool. I'll definitely take Kovy and his production at the same cap hit.

This is a good deal guys, we just have to accept it. haha. I thought the cap hit would easily clear 7M.

hes a good player...he played in a shitty south east division and then went out to the western conference. now he is in the toughest division in the nhl. imo he is an injury risk obviously.

i dont think he will put up career numbers in nyc but they had to go and get him so i give them props but i dont think it will pan out like everyone expects it will if your a ranger fan.

Yeah, but still he's scored 91 and 77 points the last two years, and he's not as big of a risk as Gaborik, he's only played less than 70 games once in his career.

That's true, but Richards came back and played the final 2 months with 14 points in his last 16 games.

It's a deal Sather had to make this season. I knew mike Rupp wouldn't be their only blockbuster move lol.
He WAS a very good player however we all know what usually happens when UFAs sign with that team. Put it this way, wolf pack fans must be thrilled that they have a chance to see this guy play down therein a few years.
