this is great stuff . and i agree with the author's assessment on who to blame , 3 errant throws 3 bad reads one he hesitates although the routes of the wrs are questionable and one where he felt pressure

my feeling is he needs more experience and needs just some more snaps . he is trying to do the right thing presnap but he needs to learn how defenses fool him .

more games and patience could correct that as well as a qb coach which we have

These were just ugly throws and reads on KCs part, no doubt about it. But that happens with inexperienced QBs. The question is can he learn from it and grow out of it. We may never know. But we do know this. He can also move the offense, something that the other 2 QBs on the roster haven't been able to do.

And here is where it gets real interesting. RG3 was sacked over 13% of the time he dropped back to pass. Behind the same line, KC was sacked just over 3%. They had just about the same number of drop backs. So while our line sucked, they were not the reason for RG3s poor play, just like they were not the reasons for KCs INTs. The questions are can either of these flaws be fixed. We have seen young QBs decrease INTs with experience. I can't think of one QB that overcame a lack of pocket presence (anyone remember Patrick Ramsey???). This skill is almost a sense, not a trained skill. But lets hope Robert is the first. The tell tale sign will be the first couple of times that Robert feels pressure, does he step up in the pocket keeping his eyes downfield or does he start to back peddle and drift right. That was his default move last year. Unfortunately, a RT is trained to push a speed rusher to the outside and behind the QB (thus forming a pocket). Robert would drift right into the path of that blocking scheme.

Your points are spot on. Tho I'd add, Griffin holding on to the ball too long. Which is one of the reasons I found Tandlers article today about Griffin and reduced sacks en pointe.

well knowing the offense , studying film and knowing where to go with the ball can help him as far as holding the ball . "pocket presence" i dont think you can do much about . so he will have to be taught to trust his reads and he will have to KNOW what the offense is designed to do and what defenses are doing to him
