Washington Redskins Robert Griffin III report: Strong finish - ESPN
seems to be doing much better this year which is a good thing

He is right to a degree ...but he should not be saying it and especially not now.
If RG3 is going to be a strong steady leader of this team, the excuse train needs to stop at the next station and everybody needs to get off.

I agree with this. In hindsight, he was right. But I didn't see Bruce standing up to Shanahan at the time telling him it was a mistake and we have heard of no inside intel that says he did so. There is nothing to gain by a Skins Exec rehashing this in public other than to personally distance himself from the mistake. This team needs to get past this issue and continuing to talk about it in public does not help toward that goal.
I also agree that the excuses need to stop. Robert has all of the talent he needs around him this year. He has a new HC and OC that will use him the way he thinks is best. He is healthy. I expect we will see him rise to the occasion as he is just too intelligent, too talented, and too hard a worker for him not to succeed. The only thing that could stop him is injury or Robert himself. If he does not prove productive this year again, this town may go ape shit next year when we determine if we trade Cousins or not. We may very well have a full fledged QB controversy.
You are correct. However - Allen is human & any one of us could lash out at someone when a microphone is present - it happens. Probably best thing right now is to not drag it out too much & focus on the upcoming season. I am sure that will be the approach, but they may still throw out a comment or two on this subject when bated by the media - not that big of a deal.
Probably true. I didn't hear the comment or the context with which it was offered. But the best course of action going forward is to not talk about it........no comment when asked.
Can the season get here quick enough? So tired of people's reactions based on what people say and not on what takes place on the field. Oh well - not too much longer.

why is a statement of fact considered an excuse ? why should anyone shut up about it at all . he said it was a mistake to play him game one . in hindsight it was .
i dont think it is taking a shot at anyone . i believe shanny himself would say it was a mistake in hindsight
the whole team , allen included made the mistake as did RG3 and the pressure
but why keep it "quiet " if you feel that way say it and stop with the weasel BS
look most fans on this board wanted RG3 in there week one because they thought he was the best chance for us to win . only a handful of posters , who were derided by me and others, saw it clearly
but RG3 WAS asked to do something impossible . recover from a major injury and start week one without any snaps , and be on fire . sorry , but i asked way too much of the guy and i wont hold a guy too responsible for wanting to get back week one nor will i bust a HC who did what I advocated
it was a mistake by all parties
Because the statement in public serves no positive purpose and could distract the team (RG3) in focusing on what he needs to be focusing on, preparing for the upcoming season. If now he is hounded by the press to comment it just drags him back.
Talking about it behind closed doors as a learning experience, I have no problem with and probably should be discussed for, as you said, everyone contributed to that mistake.
