...is a lefty with an ERA this season of 0.52. Wonder if anyone around the League has noticed or the better question might be, wonder if anyone around the League has not noticed?
We'll find out, if he keeps performing, around the time of the All Star break. It's probably a bit too much to ask him to carry a sub 0.60 ERA, but he's a bright spot for sure. Now if only they can start giving him the ball with a lead more often...
Was reading an article on CBSsportsline and they were discussing best closer-setup men in the game and they completely bypassed discussing Rex Brothers and Betancourt. They said there were a total of 4 teams that had a combined WAR above 1 so far from setupman plus closer and didn't name the Rockies even though Rex Brothers has a 1.1 WAR by himself. Definitely the most overlooked pitcher in baseball.
Betancourt has been outstanding as a closer so far this season, but Rex Brothers is waiting to be the next in line. He will do an awesome job when he gets his chance and right now I think he is learning a lot from Betancourt about the mental approach and what it takes to get the job done.
