Anyone who follows football doesn't need to read any article to see the Flitz is unhappy in AZ. But, the real issue is about the business side of it...if the Cards are not going to use Fitz then why pay him so much? The production doesn't match the cash. The Cards will try to restructure the deal again...but that just pushes money back in the form of "dead money",which is actually bonuses already paid, but counts later for the team cap. Thats a good way to end up in cap hell.

If the Cards are smart they release Fitz as a June 1st cut...I don't know the details of the contract, but I know that it's better to cut your losses sooner than later...especially when you'll have other players contracts to worry about in the near future such as Peterson and Floyd...don't need any "dead money" problems on the cap.

LF signed a 7/$113M that runs through 2018.
His cap hit for 2015 is expected to be $23.6M.
The Cards will be about $9M (after the rollover of over $3M)OVER the cap in 2015 without cuts.
Dead $ for Fitz in 2015 is $14.4M
No GM in his right mind will trade for this contract.
The cap will be a huge obstacle for the Cards next year.
Kudo's to the agents and players for negotiating cap breaking contracts but once the big bucks kick in it is almost impossible to maintain leverage against the team and the inevitable cuts/waivers/adjustments must be employed.

So Cap hit for Fitz playing - Cap hit for Fitz getting cut = $9 mill? That's a substantial amount.

Yes ,Im not sure how they could cut him without cutting their own throats unless some desperate team would pay that kind of money...and I doubt that.

A 9 million dollar cap hit hurts for someone not even on the team, but 23 million cap hit for a declining WR is unacceptable, heck I don't think it's acceptable even if he isn't declining. Cards will eat the $9 million.

Which is what Suh's hit will be even if he is not a Lion next year.:L

Come to GB

1) NO!! Declining yes, still do not want to see that twice a year.

2) I want to see hometown kid Jeff Janis get a shot with these guys.

3) You being a GB fan should know Ted does not do much business this way. He fricking drafts and develops within and lets some big money walk. I should say 4) I hate Ted but will not...:gaah:

So.......damn if you do and damn if you don't. That's a lot of cash to pay any WR.

The cards will do the right thing. Steve Keim has done a great job thus far as a GM. The only way Fitz remains a Cardinal is if he is willing to take a pay cut.

BTW- this same crap was brought up before Fitz signed his last contract. Evidently he was unhappy as a cardinal then.

I certainly hope Dorsey, who comes from the TT GM tree, doesn't do that with Poe or Houston. Would be extremely disappointing.

After all these years of enduring the likes of Kevin Kolb, Drew Stanton, Ryan Lindley, etc...Fitzgerald deserves to finish his career with someone like Peyton Manning

He will be gone if he doesn't take a pay cut. This is a forgone conclusion. He has to realize he is what he is, a great receiver on the downside of his career, take a pay cut from $16 mil to somewhere in the $6-7 mil range & accept a lesser role in this offense while still winning games. Or he can move on to another team for roughly the same money.

No team is going to pay Fitz like the best WR in the game that he was 5 seasons ago. The smart thing for Fitz is to just work out a pay cut & finish his career as a Cardinal. He has just a good of a chance winning the SB here in AZ as he does anywhere else outside of Seattle.

I seriously doubt these reports are coming from Fitz. The guy has been a class act since being drafted & is not one to float unhappiness to the media. These rumors have been occurring on an annual basis since 2010, right before he signed his current contract.

The media needs something to report now that the regular season is over.

Palmer will be back & 100% to start the 2015 season. Palmer was 6-0 while averaging 271 ypg with 11 TDs & 3 Ints. Fitz avg 6 rec 80.5 yards with 2 TDs in the 6 games Palmer started. QB is not the issue if you aren't forced to start your 2nd/3rd/4th string QBs due to injury.

But Palmer has a history of being injured so you can't use the excuse of "well our QB got injured so it's not his fault" when he gets injured a lot. When you have Carson Palmer if you don't have a good backup you're an idiot.

You are wrong. Please know your facts before you try and make a point. :L

Aside from his major knee injury in 2008, Palmer has been one of the most reliable QB,s in the league. If that is the definition of injury prone, I will take an injury prone QB all day.

Games started by Palmer each year.
