Worse than Tressman?
Let's check the record collapses under Eberflus:

Most consecutive losses with at least 25 points allowed: The Bears set this record during their 12-game losing streak in 2022, becoming the first team in NFL history to do so.

Longest losing streak: The Bears’ 14-game losing streak in 2023 was the longest in the team’s 104-season history.

Longest home losing streak: The Bears lost 9 games at Soldier Field from 2022-2023.

Longest road losing streak. Have gone 0-18 under Eberflus, tying Marty Mornhinweg. (So Eberflus owns both the home and road losing streaks.)

Not protecting leads. There were 10 instances (maybe 11 now) where the Bears had a chance to close out a game, and his defense gave up the lead.

There probably isn't a single reason if/when the inevitable happens with Flus getting the ax. There has been a multitude of coaching errors. But yesterday's postgame presser where he defended the clock mismanagement at the end of the game could very well have provided the tipping point.

Caleb Williams has been pretty clutch recently.

You can’t be watching the games to have this opinion.

Through 12 games, only 1 QB has more than 1 TD pass this season vs the Lions:

Caleb…with 3.
Ill stand by what I said. He will continue to miss open throws but hey good luck

I wish Brown the best of luck for the rest of the season and I'm glad it will be an offensive mind at the helm of the coaching staff. But unless the Bears go on a sudden winning streak from here on out - highly unlikely - this will only be a temporary fix. Still, I want Poles to focus on an offensive mind for the next HC, regardless of who it will be.

Bears fans, I salute you. You deserve a coach who knows what the hell he's doing. Uberflustered did not.

Yeah, my biggest fear at this point is that Brown looks “good enough”, and we do what the Raiders did.

Nearly every decision in the last 2 decades has been the wrong one. So my biggest fear is the next one will be too.

Yeah, but he was calling plays from the booth, not the sidelines. Hopefully he has a spotter or someone he trusts up there.

I'm with ya Jidster. Short of Ben Johnson, who just about every fan under the sun searching for a new HC wants, do you have anyone in mind?

Bears Wire has come up with a quick list of five HC candidates. No surprise as to the top choice:

Gotta say, Joe Brady is a bit intriguing. Next to Johnson, he piques my interest the most.

Johnson is the obvious choice. Vrabel is another choice if one can find an OC worth a damn.

The problem is there will likely be multiple teams seeking a new HC this offseason, so it's not as if Johnson would be annointed to the Bears. There's a decent chance we couldn't land him. Sure, he remains just about everyone's top choice, including yours truly. So I like seeing alternative names to evaluate. At this early stage Brady remains my #2, but I'd have no problems with Vrabel either.

Here's another list of candidates from CBS Sports. This one gives us eight possibilities:

The top three names are the same top three from the Bears Wire list. Kliff Kingsbury adds an interesting element to the conversation. And please, just say no to Bill Belichick, who probably is happy staying away from the world of coaching. No matter who we eventually hire, I remain hopeful that he comes from the offensive side of the ball.

Chatter on the national sports-talk shows is that Kingsbury's offenses (at both the college and NFL levels) hit a wall mid-season. He may not be a good choice.

Doubling down on my shell-shocked fandom that ANY choice (even the top choice) will be the wrong one.

May as well hire Doug Butabi.
