Redskins public relations manager Tony Wyllie initially denied Jessica making the claims, but then later retracted the denial, with Jessica issuing an official apology statement through the Redskins office for the accusations.

What was I wrong about? How did ESPN "manufacture" this story? Quite the opposite; they didn't want to cover it since it embarrassed one of their reporters. It was Jessica McCloughan who decided to make public accusations.

This is an embarrassing report for the skins. Our PR office is known for being ineffective and bumbling.

Not surprised it made ESPN headlines as it's guaranteed to get attention.

Until the skins start winning on the field, this scrutiny on every misstep will continue.

That's the reality of the news cycle in this day and age.
