  • Trent Williams T, Washington Redskins

The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports the Redskins are "having trade discussions" regarding holdout LT Trent Williams.
Howe notes the Patriots are expected to be in the mix if Williams is made available. Williams has stated he will not play again for the Redskins, so Washington may now be willing to deal the 31-year-old after signing OT Donald Penn. Health has always been Williams' biggest obstacle, but when on the field he's truly an elite left tackle. There would be plenty of suitors. Williams is under contract the next two seasons at base salaries of $11 million and $12.5 million.

Is someone is crazy enough to offer a 1st, you jump on that. love Trent but his age doesn't match the soft rebuild we are in.

Why is the organization not talking about firing Bruce Allen?

This, exactly.

Cousins is one thing, but TW has been a consummate Redskin - playing injured, providing leadership and veteran presence, changing his diet and workout regime and inspiring others to do the same, etc.

Why the frack is greaseball Bruce Allen allowed to sail through this “scott” free?

Pun intended.

The only way this “works out” for the redskins is if they get a drafted LT that has the potential to be a starter in the trade, AND a draft pick.

Otherwise, the redskins are looking at any number of ways to make their team worse.

Cousin's played on one year contracts, how has Trent done anymore than that? Trent is a better player but he hasn't always been the consummate professional …. witness suspension(s)

The guy has a contract, he should honor it.

I already wrote how TW has done more for the redskins then KC did in a previous post.

I do think he should honor his contract however.

I also dont think its as black and white as it seems, considering how bad the training staff has seemed to be over the last two years, from an outsider’s perspective.

Life does exist in shades of gray, after all, doesn’t it?

1. Maybe, but attendance trends arent working in Danny’s favor.
2. Maybe, but “not talking to the press” isnt exactly running coverage for The Danny.
3. Sure. Plenty of executives need a yes man.

I honestly believe Dan thinks the cure all is moving the team back to Southeast. Sure it will help in the short run. Everyone will want to see the new digs, smaller stadium will make it look more full, easier access, but if the losing and dysfunction continues, eventually so will the attendance problems.

Where is Dan? Why doesn't he speak? Bruce takes all the fire for.him and when the shit really hits the fan they roll out Doug to deal with the Rueben Foster backlash and shit like that.

For the record I'm not mad at Trent. If I was told by the people I work for that the issue is not serious, then I go and get a second d opinion and get told to basically get your affairs in order, I'd be done too.
