From all accounts Rivera is here because Gibbs put the word in.

Rivera doesn't have the resume that Gibbs does, so maybe he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt, but this is right out of Gibbs playbook.

If you didnt buy in or you expressed that you didnt want to be here, Gibbs traded you, right away.

Champ and Coles were very productive Redskins and Gibbs didn't hesitate. We'll see how this plays out.

It's a lot easier to play hardball when you are responsible for three Lombardi's in a glass case, but Rivera is cleaning house the way Gibbs would have.

Trufant and Jones signed with other teams last week. You need to keep up.

Plenty of good CB's that are still available in FA. Rhodes, Breeland, Prince. Or just pay the money for Logan Ryan or Tremaine Johnson. Can we get a 3rd round pick for this guy?

Only works if they actually trade these guys. Dunbar and TW, I mean.

I understand the need for guys who totally buy in to the system, but I dont understand what the redskins are doing.

Mind you: I dont HAVE TO understand what they’re doing because I’m not on the team.

I hope KSmith is preparing for one hell of a draft, considering what they aren’t addressing - yet - in free agency.

Again: I don’t HAVE TO know what their plan is, because once again - I’m not on the team.

Long story short: Rivera: “Hey Dunbar! GTFO, if you dont want to be here.”
Me: “What? Really? That’s odd. What’s next, coach?”

Joe G didn't play hardball with Champ. Champ said he was outta DC 1 way or the other the season be4 Joe G came back to coach. He said he had become fed up with the puzzle factory that was the Washington Redskins. Playing with players who did what they wanted to do as opposed to what their assignment called for to do (he was lookin at you LaVar) the non-stop turnover far as coaching etc.

If RC is to be believed though. Champ got caught snakin a female in the DC media n his wife gave him a, "either we leave DC or I'm leaving your ass." ultimatum. Whether that's true or not I cant call it. Its certainly plausible, but there are fans of every team. That cant seem to comprehend or fathom a player not wanting to play for their fave team. No matter how shitty or dysfunctional said fave team is. So they invent reasons to blame the player.

And oh, I wish Joe G would"ve played some hardball with more of the coaches he dealt with when it came to trades. I don't know how it came up, but he should've punched Mike in the throat soon as he realized that Shanny wanted the 2nd rd pk to go to the Broncos.

Washington is not an NFL player preferred destination. Beyond getting overpaid for end of career players few if any actually want to be here. Let's start with that.

It's really going to take some time to turn that around in terms of a place to win, and/or gain the long-lasting fame that comes with winning... winning championships.

Players are people, no different than any others in the country. They have a skill that offers them an opportunity to live decent lives at great peril to their well being. They also have biases, that include growing up with a favorite team and disliking others. Loyalty the temporary kind that comes with initially signing with a team is fleeting. As I constantly write here, it's not personal, it's business.

Good luck to Dunbar, I wish him well, perhaps things work out here, and if not, maybe he, like Fuller, returns at some other time.
BTW : My last comment wishing him well, is, in part, what culture change looks like.
