I'm hoping for 2 out of 3. Cueto is dealing, right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see him continue that trend, plus our 6th best starting pitcher is on the hill, tonight.

I do think McDonald and Morton are going to win their starts on Saturday and Sunday, though.

DS, I gave you a breather on the thread authorship for the weekend. I'm sure you were busy science-ing, and just haven't had the time :nerd: :)

it looked like jones was dogging it around 2nd to third. maybe he wasnt expecting to be sent as the play was in front of him in the left field corner.

Alvarez is being moved to 4th in the lineup and McCutchen is coming back tonight. It would appear that my pre-season prediction about Pedro isn't going to come true, but I still don't like the guy, and now is as good a time as any to trade him.......I'm just saying.

Big win. Now, they need to make it two in a row. Really hoping Morton has better control on that sinker tomorrow.

I miss Jeff Karstens.

Well.... oh well.
Also - why didn't Cole pitch tonight? He has been following Taillon. Is he getting promoted? Did they save him for Sunday game maybe? Wondering.

J-Mac does look awfully good this year. :thumb:

I am in Atlanta and the local talk shows were in awe of the fact of how cheap the Pirates got him in that deal. Yeah it was right after he pitched 7 2/3 and struck out 10 against them but they wished the Braves got him for a middle reliever.

Even though he threw 99 pitches this last outing he got the win. It was very encouraging seeing him go 100+ into 7 innings the last two outings.

Phil Irwin was coming off the DL, so they moved Cole's start back a day. Nothing major, Irwin will be in Altoona soon.

Did Pedro really need to dive there? I can't be on board with him even being an adequate defender. He makes a sweet play once in a while, but he fails to make a lot of average plays. And he has a lot of trouble with anything hit slow in front of him. He does make the occasional bare handed play though. Anytime there is a bunt or slow roller to 3rd base it's trouble. That said if he can OPS .900 his defense is certainly good enough.

Also, painful to watch the lineup not get it done with the bases loaded.

:burt:

frazier made a nice stab to take away 2 in the first, but mcclouth could have picked him up with a clutch hit or even a walk for a run.
where is cutch again today?
i would almost rather see navarro get some PT in the outfield instead of mcclouth. navarro has promise, flexibility, and athleticism, and it would nice to see him get some reps.one of his last AB was a HR,

That was a nice stab.

I'm not sure, but you are right it sure does seem like that. 400+ foot blasts are the norm for opponents.

Barmes and Barajas are KILLING this offense. Both of these bums are still below the Mendoza line, and it's the second week in May for Christ sakes!! In 60 plate appearances, Rod doesn't even have a damn RBI yet:thumbsdown:
