Just a heads up that that this is happening next week, Wednesday the 13th.

Northern Virginia Hokie Club

You do NOT need to be a member to enter. It's a good time and we usually get some good stories out of Cav.

Not sure about Roanoke, but Coach Cav does one in Dublin every year. My co-worker has the details. I'll get them from him and post it here when I do.

I went to this Dublin one a couple years ago and this one because of the setting gets pretty informal. Coach Cav interacts with the crowd pretty well and even after all the years he has been doing it, you can tell he still is like a kid at Christmas when it comes to discussing these new recruits.

Please do, I usually get the info with my hokieclub stuff but i moved my renewal to april last year and I havnt gotten anything for this years events. I've been to several of these and was really looking forward to it this year especially because i missed last year.

Taz, 46, me and the wife and a couple other Hokie friends went last night and I highly recommend it, if for nothing else to hear Cav talk off-the-cuff. He made a point of saying that he didn't want anything he said to end up on the internet as his PC filter was never installed properly.

Some quick observations -
  • Coach Cav is worth the price of admission.
  • I was impressed with the vids for Jefferson, Parker, Newsome and Motupuaka who I hadn't seen all that much.
  • Jefferson was everywhere on the field, very impressive speed.
  • Parker is a shifty, lefty QB with a very familiar quick-flick release and look. I think we'll be ok at QB
  • Newsome was impressive, a lot of shake and a lot of instinct in his vid. He had the most moves of anyone.
  • Motupuaka was clearly a favorite of Cav's and it's easy to see why. He was everywhere on defense and one of his "highlights" was his blocking on a punt return... he blocked three/four guys and kept catching the return guy after he finished his blocks.

Things you probably already knew -
  • Kendall Fuller was a man amongst boys in his vid and was in 5th gear while defenders were in park.
  • Wyatt Teller looks like a mean motherfucker
  • All of OL look like projects to me, just my take.
  • Bucky's delivery/release makes Tyrod's hitch and the Tebow shot-put look like gold.

Good hanging out last night. To recap - if you've heard about these events and thought about going, DO IT. I won't go into details, but there was some good info passed out, as mentioned before, due to Cav's earnest delivery.
