Phillies acquired C J.T. Realmuto from the Marlins for RHP Sixto Sanchez, C Jorge Alfaro, LHP Will Stewart, and international bonus pool money.
The blockbuster four-player swap has now officially been announced by both teams. Realmuto drew trade interest from several different clubs this winter, including the Braves, Dodgers, Reds, Padres, and Rays, but he ultimately landed in Philadelphia and should flourish in the power-friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park. The 27-year-old backstop slashed .277/.340/.484 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI over 125 games last season with the rebuilding Fish. He is currently under control through 2020, though it sounds like the Phillies might engage in extension talks with his reps this spring.
