Okay- for the three or four of you 'hoopsters' that are in this dynasty league-you know the situation feel free to respond without being bombarded with trade offers 5 minutes later- or not, whatever :)

Ok, here's the short and skinny- took over a crap roster in a 10 team Dynasty league- best 3 assets are Justin Jefferson, Jayden Daniels, and Rashee Rice- everything else is questionable to put it nicely. I GUTTED the roster on the rookie draft day- there's literally zero chance of winning anything this year- I'm starting Montgomery and Cam Skattebo at RB for Pete's sake ok? So obviously I'm looking at '26 and beyond.

I can only assume that certain other owners in the league are seeing the looming suspension for Rice as an opportunity to buy cheap- I've received multiple offers--and most of them contain players that won't make the final cuts before week 1, and nothing else- like 3 for 1 and 4 for ones of absolute roster fluff.

Now, Rice is 25 years old- the #1 WR on a Mahommes/Reid offense - I consider that a block to build around, but I'll never say never to trading virtually anyone. So, my typical response is- offer me a '26 #1, or the player you chose with your #1 this year, and we can negotiate from there. I mean, if I can't get something that should be solid value going forward, and I know I'm not competing this year, why would trade a 25 year old #1 WR in what should be, a great offense

So, my question is- am I off base? And if so, what do you think would be reasonable?

yes... and no....

but that is also what makes him kind of impossible to trade right now... i dont think the other party would be willing to part with a first rounder for him... not today at least....

problem is, if you are trading for a pick, then you are trading to a team that wants to win now... and if they want to win now, Rice has become such a question mark to how much he plays... and then that owner who is playing for now, now also traded his biggest piece for later on this season when he needs it...

for the very few owners that would be rebuilding and still make this trade as Rice has nice future value still, those teams more likely than not have high first round picks...

in both scenarios, an owner would be more likely to make this trade if they have multiple first round picks... but those teams are usually hording to make bigger moves...

i think you either have to hold Rice, or "LOSE THE TRADE"...

I understand your position/stance. But the issue may be with Rice himself. Yes, he is all those positive things, but his suspension casts a negative spin on his value.

He may learn from it. Or he may get into another offseason suspendable offense which would be longer.

I have no options to offer since each owner values each player differently. What you want is what you want. But the other 9 owners may not see it the same. Just sharing my opinion.

I'm high on Rashee long-term, too. I'd only trade him for what I thought were even more undervalued assets, and there aren't many of those.

i disagree... this is just speeding on steroids... doesnt even put a bad image on football...

sure he needs to grow up... but this is at least something he did and was punished for... there really is no reason to think he will do it again other than these players being idiots...

Right- in my position, I am the wrong owner to have Rice and be negotiating a trade to send him elsewhere. I can't realistically get what he 'should' be worth, nor will someone else pay what I'd need to deal him.

he's worth more to me in '26, and beyond, than he will be for someone to trade for him this year.

I have zero plans on trading him, he's not on my block, and I've certainly not encouraged anyone to make offers- mainly because I get the situation. But if they're coming, that's currently my response- make it worth my while, otherwise I'll sit on him and play for '26

Speaking of for non-dynasty leagues, Rashee Rice has big upside, perhaps even that of a league winner, but I think he will have plenty of target competition from Xavier Worthy, Kelce and others.

Plus he faces almost certain suspension for he freeway stunt and will likely miss at least 4 games.

understandable- but if that's the case- why are you (they) making the offers to begin with? ya know?

after '25 there will be no competition from Kelce. But, I understand you were speaking more in redraft terms.

And in a redraft- sure I get his value is certainly 'hamstrung' in trade terms.

But in dynasty terms, a 3-5 game suspension, which will probably be appealed down to 2-3, is barely a blip on what a 25 year old WR's future career 'should' be

You also see in the first three games last year that Rice was pulling in 9 to 10 targets and Kelce was only pulling in 4. I think we're in post prime territory with Kelce and the Chiefs might treat him as such. Long-term thought is more likely about how good Jalen Royals is...I thought coming out the two prospects are actually kinda similar.

With Hollywood Brown seemingly made of glass and Kelce not being his old self I wouldn't want to part with Worthy or Rice unless given something really nice.

I've received some insane offers for guys that are about to be suspended or guys that get injured, and I've also seen trades execute where players went too low (imo) in a trade due to those circumstances.

I actually like Rice for rebuilding teams - guaranteed to not be available for a handful of weeks at the minimum, assuming the team is bad and next guy up is a bench warmer. Keeps your points down without trading a somewhat proven asset away

Junk for hunks. You did say they were offering multiple "cut-worthy" players so there's that.

disagree... this is just speeding on steroids... doesnt even put a bad image on football...

Disagree with your disagree. He left a scene with injuries he caused. Even if his next offense is a lot less serious, per NFLPA guidelines, his next suspension is longer.

Fantasy owners shy away from (or rank lower) players with injury history, i'm sure other owners shy away from players with "stupid" history too.

I do, but I inherited the kid :)
I totally understand anyone's hesitation, I would be the same, but then again, I'm also not going out attempting to trade for him in any leagues, for that very reason.

If someone were to come with an offer that improves my '26 outlook to better than it would be with Rice on the team, I'll jump all over it

Would you trade Rice for Sampson, straight up?

yep-- honestly the entire Judkins deal came at the worst possible time for the rookie draft, as I was praying he (Sampson) would fall to 2.04..then OBX had to take him at 1.8

Yeah players who other team owners feel may be available on the cheap or a value draw more unsolicited offers by far over your other players. Folks just LOVE bargain shopping..Off the field issues, injury issues and I bet contract issues (when that time arrives) just isn't my cup of tea but some smell a possible steal of a deal and send offers that don't hold much interest.

I could be mistaken but think Rice is with the FF team that drafted him in all my dynasty leagues.

Off the field issues,

I both sent and received/declined so many bad offers during the 'Tyreek broke his kid's arm' offseason

But I also turned down a couple that would've been steals, in hindsight, was just too much risk coming my way for the asking price

Nope not off-base in the least. .... especially if you're going nowhere this yr anyway. ...
Would you trade Rice for Sampson, straight up?
Only if RB was a position of dire need - with a hint of a chance to make a playoff run in '26.
