Base on the final ranking in college basketball, the following teams should have been seeded lower but got a favorable seeding.

Duke
Wisconsin
Arkansas
Illinois
UConn
LSU
Alabama

What can we learn from this?

The Zags lost to Arkansas who in turn beat New Mexico St. who in turn beat UConn who had the #2 seed despite being ranked #9. The true #2 seed should have been Tennessee. If Tennessee is the #2 seed do they beat NMSU? Do they beat Arkansas? Does Gonzaga match up better against Tennessee?

We'll never know and thus will have to wait another year before we see Gonzaga win a National Championship.

Thoughts on what's been happening in the tournament......

1. Basketball, unlike Football, at the collegiate level, the parity level has reached an equilibrium to a degree we haven't seen before. IMO, almost any team can beat top end elite teams on any given day. Sisters of the poor can beat the Zags, Duke, Kansas, tucky, etc. if they are in a zone sinking 3s and the elite teams shots just aren't falling for whatever reason.

2. Concerning Gonzaga, and I'm not alone here, I think what just happened, and what has happened to them the last 4-5 years, is a result of playing in a conference that is demonstrably weak compared to the B1G, SEC, PAC, Big 12, & ACC. They get to the ncaa tourney and have to play all top end teams. Yes, they played a very good non conf. schedule. but so do many other teams.
