Had to start a game thread after Martin's lead off double. He has a sweet swing. Harrison looks pretty off in the first though.

Ian's getting ate up at the plate tonight. Home plate ump has called some questionable strikes though.

Yep, the ump is giving them a pretty high zone tonight, and has thus far been inconsistent calling that low and away pitch.

Why is Young playing?

Moreland's wRC+ against righties is 139. Young's is 49. So Moreland is creating 90% more runs per PA against righties. Moreland's UZR/150 at 1B this year is 7.6. MY's is -14.4.

No reason Young should be starting... just sad

Nice job of the entire pitching staff holding the slimmest of leads ad making pitches when they had to.

Tonight is Feldman's last chance. Every last factor is in his favor to finally get a win- facing the worst lineup in the National League in a pitcher's park where sinker and cutter specialists thrive. If he can't give the Rangers 6 solid innings tonight, he is a lost cause.

I'm gonna go glass half-full and say he finally puts it together for a win. He's been miserable for the most part, but you gotta know he's been trying really hard to right the ship. He deserves at least one win before he is sent back to the bullpen.

Plus Volquez is the kind of pitcher the Rangers usually feast on- inconsistent command but primarily fastball with some breaking stuff mixed in. It's the junkball guys who throw nothing but sinkers, change ups, and slow curve balls (like Marquis) who deal the Rangers misery.

My only fear is Feldman pitching well enough to convince Wash he's "found it" against one of the worst offenses in baseball in a pitchers park no less. Then Wash takes his crazy pills and throws him out there next week against the Tigers, which would be ugly.

I'm hoping Feldman does well tonight. Then I hope I never see him start another game this year for Texas.

I'll make the HSO prediction that Feldman goes 6.2IP leaving with a 3-1 lead courtesy of 3RBI he drove in himself.

I bet one beleaguered pitcher has a better chance of performing well against SDP than getting run support from the mostly same eight position players who were stymied by another beleaguered pitcher last night plus who have shown their ability to play down to the quality of their opposition (ex: 0-2 vs KC, 2-4 vs OAK).

Go Scooter! ... and lets now hope Holland can come back strong and Oswalt spins magic.

Dave Barnett to undergo testing, will miss next two games

Busby to fill in on an interim basis

Should be a much better broadcast.

From what I was reading, it could be something serious

I hope him the best, and I didn't really have a problem with him last year, but this year, he was off almost the whole year

I find him far less annoying than Lewin, he got on my last nerve

Final comment, I do think a TAG & Bus broadcast is the most enjoyable of the 3 mentioned here

I liked lewin. His big moment calls were great. Busby is really good too though.

That said I hope he's okay. It could be something very serious. Sounds like something could be affecting the brocas area of his brain.

Yeah, that "robbery and henchman" comment from last night's broadcast was completely out of nowhere and made zero sense. I had to rewind my DVR to make sure I wasn't hearing things. I agree with you guys- this doesn't look good for Barnett. Severe headaches, which he reportedly has been experiencing, along with sudden bouts of confusion and memory loss are both red flags that something serious could be wrong. Hopefully it's nothing more than just extreme migraines or something else minor which can easily be fixed.

I remember back in 1985 when Royals manager Dick Howser was diagnosed with a brain tumor, his first symptoms were nightly severe headaches and constantly calling his players by the wrong name and occasionally forgetting what was going on in the game. Scary stuff.

Agree ... hope what ails Dave isn't serious and the tests turn out positive. Best wishes to him and his family.

Agree to Dave remains a far better PBP guy than John Radigan who was miscast in the role ... especially since Josh Lewin was pretty darn good ... corny because TAG is corny ... but he's doing quite well in a much bigger market now.

Buzz is an excellent PBP guy and even has the on field credentials that TAG shares. Buzz is excellent on the radio relieving Nadel ... which is a lot to say for a ex player turned broadcaster.

Wish Dave Barnett well ...
