In retrospect, the trade I proposed before the season of Profar and Olt for Upton and Bauer is looking better and better

Go look at Upton's stats since his ridiculously hot start. He's been very average if not below average.

The D-Backs wanted at least one major league ready player. Towers wasn't going to give up Upton for only prospects. He wanted major league starters in return.

He brought up 2011 and game 6 and acted like a jackass.

Oooh ok ya that's right. I remember Beltre didn't take that too kindly from what Lance said. Ya there is a DBag factor to him. It's one thing to be blatantly honest but it's another being just a douche and I think Lance has a DBag factor to him.

That said I don't blame him...he was getting paid 10-12 million to come back when a good team that is in his state where he lives is begging him too. Most would come back and it's not that he's been that terrible. His OBP is still decent it's just his power and bat speed looks to be lagging and I think the injury to his knees are the reason.

He has been. Some say he's been playing through and oblique injury but who knows. All in all I think he would have been someone worth bringing in. He's been solid most of his career and given his age you can only think he'll get better especially playing in this ballpark but hey what's done is done.

He adds nothing to this team. It only worked when he was hitting. Taking walks is fine, but when you cannot run it doesn't do much good to be on base.

Yep I don't disagree. I know Morneau is in the market according to reports I read and Baltimore has been talking to Minny about him. I know he's a shell of his old self but I wouldn't mind Texas kicking the tires on him.

He's had one stellar year and hasn't been a star much besides that. For what towers wanted it would've been stupid.

Morneu wouldn't really do much to improve this team. We don't need anymore washed up players.

Not disagreeing with you there but if you're still shooting for a spark and doing something this season it could be something that could help. A change of scenery can help him.

I just feel like we need something bigger than that.

Oh I agree. Another possibility could be Ethier. Not sure LAD would be willing to trade him but he's someone that could help and he's only 31.

Clint Hurdle and Andrew McCutchen....okay that's not happening.

I love it!

What do you think about giving Greg Maddux a shot at the manager position?

Pittsburgh isn't going anywhere. They're set up to be good for a long while.

Obviously, but I wouldn't count on prying him from Pitt. This the reason I posed the question about Maddux.

If there was ever a vacancy, I didn't think Maddux would be interested. He seems like he wants to be more of a FO guy than a manager but I could be wrong. I kinda think he enjoys not having to do the daily baseball grind.

Can't remember the last time I saw Elvis drive a ball into the gap like that, good to see.
