That combination of 3-5 hitters simply doesn't work. Too many quick outs back to back. Yet another obvious reality that escapes wash.

I don't disagree. What is the alternative tho? My guess is moving Ian to the 3 hole which makes sense with Martin solidifying his play in the bigs and the possibility that Engel can play and stick around.

I'm not justifying it one way or the other, I'm not paid to do that. My point is, if people who DO get paid to scout this player say they believe he's got the stuff I quoted in my last post, then for the price I don't think it's that bad of a deal. Simple as that.

And its not just good things that were said about this kid, there were plenty of concerns

Baker could be a good 5 hole hitter when he's in the lineup.

Is Busby ok? He sounds a bit out of breath.

I'm willing to pay a Japanese pitcher 60 million than an unknown Cuban that has good stuff that money when scouting is so much more limited. At least with the Japanese pitcher you can closely scout his every start and over a period of a few years. I'm glad Texas did not bite and give that kind of money. A ton of pitchers have good stuff but the majority of them don't do squat in professional baseball.

The fact that Wash has any reason to have murphy in the lineup is absurd.

That being said, Cuban pitchers have tended to do well on the whole...not necessarily saying we lost out on this guy, but the overall Cuban track record is pretty good...

Mitch is way too tense and over swinging big time. It's like he's trying to strangle the bat.

He needs to go back to choking up, making contact and letting his natural strength do the work

Yep. He's got no idea where that bat is going when he swings.

umm higher than a .226 batting average for starters

So to preface, I know Murph has had a horrible season, albeit very unlucky. It's just really irritating to see people basically forming lynch mobs for the guy, but on the other hand excuse Elvis for having a poor offensive season because he's been a "great" defender this season. It gets fucking old. Mitch has been pretty bad outside of the few weeks he was hot prior to his injury, but nobody is calling for him to be traded. People refuse to look at things objectively.

Elvis and Moreland have both been better offensively than Murphy, and both are far superior defenders. Some people just refuse to look at things objectively.

To my credit, I clearly said no more than 2 hours ago that "Murphy is hitting bad, but so are about 5 other rangers." We all see whats going on. But murphy is pretty much the only player that hasn't even been hot yet this year. Its been a constant struggle with him and we have better options. Yes I mean beltre.
