Well, here we are back at the top on this roller coaster ride. Is this good run for real, or did defeating the lowly White Sox make the team look a lot better than they are? We will find out soon enough.

One thing sweeping the White Sox series did, was to make it impossible to still consider the Rangers as sellers. We could get swept by the Blue Jays and we still would not be sellers.

Having Mahle, Jung, and Bradford so close to being back, makes the club's chances seem better. That in itself is like making three major deadline moves, and we even have two players to be named later on their way at some point in August.

The Astros and the Mariners have graciously decided to crack the door open. Let's see if the Rangers can bust through that door.

Do the Rangers need to make trades in the next few days in order to be able to bust down the door? It probably isn't necessary, but I would imagine they will make one or two smaller moves to shore up the bench.

We did go 7-2 before the break. Baltimore is a tough team so to win just 1 out of the 3 game series is understandable.

Whatever the personal reason he has missed for, may also be causing him to have his worst year since his rookie season. That may be the reason the Rays want to trade him.

Houston is going to trade for pitching. Seattle may get another bat beside Azorena.
Big or small management needs to do something at the deadline to give a vote of confidence to the players even with all the players coming back because their performance can’t be predicted.

His slugging percentage last year was kind of an outlier. I think we should shop around. I would prefer a 1B/OF and not so much a person who primarily plays 1B. He played plenty at 3B before 2022 but we don't need that.

Considering everything we desparately need a good bench.

From what I understand, his defense at 3B leaves a lot to be desired anyway.

Yes. I don't feel we need someone who is going to step into the everyday lineup. We need reliable ben h players who can pinch hit. One year we were in a similar situation and traded for Jeff Francour. That is the kind of trade we need.

To do so would require management give up on either Grossman or Jankowski or both.

I sure wish there was a good hitting catcher available to back up Heim. We have one in AAA, but Bochy has something against him.

Actually, the answers to our bench problems may be Huff amd Duran, plus an OF acquired via trade. An OF/1B would be perfect, someone like Moreland when he first came up. Of course, there is always Dustin Harris.

From Jeff Passan:

Trade news: The Seattle Mariners are acquiring right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia from the Toronto Blue Jays, sources tell ESPN.

The main return for the Blue Jays: outfield prospect Jonatan Clase.

Garcia was one of the best RP available this deadline. Seattle remaining busy.

Teodo is no longer scheduled to start for Frisco tomorrow night. Hopefully, he is finally getting a well-deserved promotion.
