Series Thread: Rangers Travel to Seattle For Three Games April 17-19

AJ Russell pitched a pair of scoreless frames for Hickory tonight as he made his 3rd start of the season. The Rangers No. 3 ranked prospect picked up 3 strikeouts while allowing only 1 hit and 0 walks on 28 pitches.

He worked his entire accompaniment of pitches, and I was particularly impressed by his changeup. He only threw 1 or 2, but for a pitch that grades out as average on multiple publications I thought it had really good late tumble that played really well at the bottom of the zone.

Of course his fastball is ridiculous, and is probably the best fastball in the Rangers farm system. He commands it incredibly well, and you can just see the life it has at the top of the zone in this strikeout from his first inning of work.

No, around 13th in MLB but yes, seems a lot worse.

Hickory is 12-2, which is tied with AA Richmond for the record in the minors.

The Crawdads have trailed in 7 of the 12 wins, 6 of those they trailed after the 5th inning.

We didnt hit much at all against him last year.
Seager had some success against him but not much else from anyone else
