Yeah, they just need to be willing to undergo a short-term rebuild.
they can still add quality FAs to fill the enormous holes in the offense where it could be years before in-house prospects are ready like at catcher (Higashioka & Jansen bring nothing to the team), 2B (where what we have available is worthless) & CF (where those available are not starter-grade performers)

So you would be looking at
Lf Langford
Cf free agent/trade/Inhouse
Rf Nimmo
1B Burger
2b free agent/trade/In house
SS Seager dont see how he gets traded
3B Jung/ would consider a trade replaced by Duran or Freeman. I like Jung but gets hurt too much
C OHoppe/Jansen or free agent. Jansen has one more year/Trade
DH Free Agent but this has a number of possibilities

I would like to see Drelling progress to Round Rock and see how he does. I think somehow he winds up with the Rangers next year
Also others to consider are Walcott C.Cauley, Perich, Disla, Morrobel.
Not saying all of them will be called up but just wait and see what happens.

actually, i would move Seager to DH and use Duran, Freeman & Lopez at SS
absolutely trade Jansen and bring in FA & O'Hoppe at C

Yeah, the good thing is we have those 5 guys in Frisco along with Dalton Pence in Round Rock. We just have to do a fairly quick rebuild. Add a free agent or two this winter and then when other guys go off the books add a few more free agents down the road. By then we will know how many of the Frisco Five and guys like Langford, Freeman, Foscue, Osuna, Carter and Cauley we can count on, if any.

I would still like to try to trade some high priced veterans in order to speed up the rebuild.

Patience and a new philosophy of team building is of paramount importance.

From Twitter account Eyes on the Ball:

On a Baseball Reference rabbit hole this morning. On a side note, Foscue and Josh Jung each have 9 home runs, Foscue has played 14 less games and way less plate apperances.

if other teams and those veterans with no-trade options cooperate yeah we could do that, but i don't think that works otherwise.

From Eyes of the Ball:

The Texas Rangers vs The Milwaukee Brewers.

Kumar Rocker vs Dustin May

Through no fault of their own, the Rangers are only two games out of the division and wildcard. Not sure it matters.

The Rangers will be trying to avoid being swept by the Brewers 3 of the last 4 seasons today.

Dustin May is 6-8 in 25 starts this season with a 4.45 ERA. Left-Handed hitters are hitting .274 against May.

May has 6 pitches. Four Seamer (25.5%) Cutter (23.6%) Sweeper (19.2%) Sinker (18.2%) Changeup (6.8%) Curveball (6.6%).

If they hear the word "rebiild" that might change how they feel about a trade. If they would have traded Seager before approaching deGrom in July, deGrom would have probably agreed to a trade at that point.

May has another advantage over Rocker. he's pitching against a Rangers team that has one of the lowest hit ratio in baseball, rocker is facing a team that hits from the top of the order to the bottom when it counts

We desperately need a better arm in RF. I wonder if Duran can be the answer for next year and beyond. Also, do you extend Duran? If not, he only has two more years left here.

the word is "IF" they showed no desire to trade Seager and there was any interest from competitive teams to get Seager and deGrom has 1 season here left and i think he probably retires

perhaps but if they move Seager to DH for 2/3rds of the season Duran might be needed more at SS

I have heard that Seager doesn't want to DH. Maybe telling him that is the plan will be the key to him allowing a trade.

give these choices: DH, 1b 65% of the season or SS 33% of the time and still batting 2nd or 3rd 100% of the time

The Blue Jays, Clevelands and Twins are winning, early on.

From Michael Tepid:

Baumler just pitched for Round Rock. Looked good and had a quick inning. FB hit 95 and he spun a couple nice CBs in the low 80s. Got Charlie Condon on a weak 3UA using a 88mph SL.
