I will say this again. What a difference a series makes. As bad as everything looked four days ago, it looks that good, now. The Rangers enter this series with the Dodgers with a lot of momentum. They will need all the help they can get.

The Rangers will once again face three right-handed pitchers so the lefties in our lineup should get plenty of at bats. Smith and Pederson have both just begun to hit better so hopefully they will do well in this series.

The Rangers will send Leiter, Rocker and deGrom to the mound. The bullpen has looked good for almost all of the year with the exception of when Garcia and Martin were asked to close.

After the end of the Reds series we had a winning percentage of .444 so I showed what our record would be at the trade deadline if we maintained that same winning percentage. Currently, the Rangers are 7-5 which gives them a winning percentage of .583. That works out to a record of 65-47 at the deadline.

The Rangers still need to get Langford, Jung and Smith right. Langford especially needs to get going. Smith may have discovered something of late, but needs to put a few games together where he is hitting better. Jung had something going over his latest few games and then came down with a somewhat mysterious injury. Skip Schumaker was quoted as saying Jung was "a little banged up."

As tough as the Dodgers are, maybe we should just hope to not get swept, but it would be really nice to win the series.

Gavin Collyer continues to impress. He pitched another scoreless innings last night. He gave up one hit and no walks while striking out one. He threw 10 pitches and 8 were strikes. Over his last 2 outings he has thrown a total of 20 pitches and 17 were strikes.

Oh, and Collyer reached 98.7 MPH.

He might be the next man up. Wonder how long Carter B stays down

I sure hope it isn't long. His last outing was impressive. I was hoping he could build on that.

I think we have the makings of a really good bullpen for the next few years, either on the club now or in the upper levels now. I hope we can keep all of them healthy this year and keep CY from trading them.

There was a lot of talk before the season about how tough the Rangers schedule was during the first 40 to 60 games of the season. However, if you look at strength of schedule the rest of the way, the Rangers have the 29th toughest schedule. Only the Clevelands have an easier schedule.

Now, some of that is skewed by certain teams having much worse records than everyone thought they would have this year. That could change significantly, and in as little as 10 to 14 days things might look a lot different than they currently look

We will have an idea how good we may be when we leave LA.

From Matthew Harris:

Back-to-back really strong outings from Emiliano Teodo, as he pitched a scoreless inning in relief against the Dodgers AAA affiliate. Teodo picked up 2 strikeouts and walked 1 on 23 pitches. An interesting development for Teodo is that he started reintegrating his 4SFB in spring, and he brought it back into the games last night.

Teodo seems to be searching for ways to throw consistent strikes with any type of fastball, and while I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of the shape, I can be quickly convinced if he is in fact able to consistently be in the zone with it.

It’s a process for Teodo as the Rangers continue to tinker with his delivery in an effort to try and help him find that consistency. Good to see this from Teodo, but he’s got to rattle off several more outings like this, as well as find any fastball consistency before he’s back on the radar for the big league club.

Keith Law has reported that some scounts see Vahn Lackey as a possibility to be the overall first draft pick in the 2026 MLB draft.

I think we take 2 of 3. Rocker and Leiter each hold LA to 2 or 3 runs while pitching 6 innings, giving up lots of hits but limiting the damage, we win those two. deGrom gives up 4 runs in 6 innings, and we lose that one. Thinking we win the first two games something like 5-4, 4-3, and we lose the deGrom game 6-2. Bats do decently considering who they're facing, and the bullpen is solid.

I wish I had the confidence in our offense that you do.

Well, I don't know how confident I am in the bats in general, but I think they are due for a productive series, offensively. And one of the last times I was unreasonably confident in this team they got hot and won the WS, so I'm willing to risk looking like a fool if the opposite of my prediction happens, whether talking about this series or the season in general, lol.

From Wilber Sanchez:

SOURCE: The Texas Rangers have reached a pre-agreement with 12-year-old Dominican prospect Nolbis Marcos for a $3.6 million signing bonus.

It is the highest amount the organization will award in the 2031 international class.

“Is already holding his own against professional pitchers who mix 90–93 mph fastballs with advanced breaking pitches. Scouts have identified him as the top prospect in his generation”
