Missed most of the game. Seems like a typical game for Gore- lots of pitches, strikeouts and walks
Pen has to work. They have to be tiring out. And becoming exposed like Beeks
Robby A should take his leverage roles. Guess Winn is in the mix today. Some of the other relievers may need to sit and rest
Looked like Latz hit 98. He is a beast

Still Rangers to seriously compete will need to perform with the bases loaded.
Chances to blow the game open but don’t deliver. Royals pen gifted them runs basically

And is not always that you have to keep everyone to play on your team, but when you do trade someone make sure you make a good trade. Don't overpay because you are overly enamored with strikeouts. I wouldn't have traded a couple of those guys straight up in a one-for-one trade for Gore.
Well we knew he had great stuff and a lefty
Just unaware of his lack of control occurring really pretty regularly

It was 2 years and to me that was not enough.
Kind of figured you would have to lose a guy like Fien and maybe 2 or 2 more lessor prospects.

But other obvious issue is CY enamored with SP.
Going into season the holes were a closer and a catcher and to a lesser degree 8th inning guy
1B was suspect. 2B too but unless a great trade wanted to fill that internally. Sure did not want to overpay for an old Marte
Team needs to get younger

In retirement mode for a bit so looks like I get to catch the daygame today. Remembering going to early 70s Rangers game as a young teen with friend and his Dad sitting in those Turnpike bleachers. Those seats got hot. Use to put paper seems like team guides in seats to not burn. Think they just gave them out or easy to find

Later after high school took a road trip near end of year to KC in hopes of a Ranger sweep to win the AL pennant before all this division and WC stuff. We lost the first one it seems and came home early in Rangers style. I had a crew back then who were big Ranger fans too
Good times

One more story. When I was in grade school we lived in Houston and was an Astros fan
Listened to games on the radio in the evening pretty much mesmerized. This was back in the Dierker pitching days
Did go to the Dome a few times and remember watching Steve Carlton fix. Somehow the Astros walked it off and Lefty had the ball and chunked it into the stands straight at my dad who had a beer in one hand. Well he was not letting thst go so it hit him and bounce down the aisle below him and I grabbed it. My first baseball
But kind of like we have seen an older woman grabbed it from my hands. Crazy.

Very disappointed but fortunately over the years I have gotten many baseballs including opening day, batting practices in the OF
Balls for son, my Downs daughter and oldest grandson
Justice was served

Btw used to have seats in BPIA and got some there in CF near the green but the home run kid who was bigger than me started coming out and getting them out jumping me
No more easy pickings.
So maybe I was the pre home run kid who was no longer a kid

From Tepid:

Hickory’s Yolfran Castillo hit 18 doubles over his first 123 MiLB games in ‘24 & ‘25. He went 3-4 in a day game today, including his 17th double this season. The 19 year old, plus shortstop is now hitting .315/.404/.437 through 56G in 2026. He also has 27 SB (5CS). He’s a dude.

I guess this news would indicate an injury to a pitcher.

From Evan Grant:

Luis Curvelo is in the clubhouse; I’d expect a move forthcoming in bullpen

This new playoff format is so ass. No way the Rangers should be in it but here we are

In Gore's defense for this game, not the previous ones, he made good pitches on the 2 hits that drove in the 2 runs against him. One hit was a blooper to right-center and the other a slow grounder between 1st and 2nd.

Burger can make a great play at 1b one moment and look like a complete buffoon later. But he was very important in last night's game. Average at 245 with 11 HRs and 41 RBIs. If he stays healthy could around 90 RBIs. Been laying off of the sweepers that his bat can't even reach. Hope it stays that way.

In his last 2 appearances Latz has really struggled with his control. He's had a few 5 day a 4 day break between appearances. I think he needs to be used more.

Not sold on him yet but his stats are good for the last 30 days

Jake Burger is fine for a team in the Rangers position. Once we are rebuilt, I hope to have a better hitter and a better fielder at 1B and at some other positions.

Now if we can just get our front office and ownership to have the guts to do a quick rebuld.

Used to be a lot of good hitting first baseman but it seems to be diminishing.
We need to put more of a focus on developing some good first baseman that are bottlenecked at their current position.

I think Goldschmidt is available in free agency after this season.

I also wouldn't be opposed to Jung moving to 1B when Walcott is ready.

This makes sense. Also like them trying out Nimmo
