Well, if Evan and Jeff are right I am giving this front office a big fat F- for the deadline and for the last 12 months as a whole.

I am so ready to get a new front office. They are too scared to make the tough decisions. They are blind to this team's inadequacies.

The Blue Jays are acquiring RHP prospect Josh Stephan, along with Josh Smith, from the Rangers in exchange for Adam Macko, @Feinsand and @KeeganMatheson confirm.

This will free up a ton of money. I'm not even sure what the purpose was of this trade unless it was to allow Smith to go somewhere where he has an opportunity to play.

Chris Young HAS to go. His inaction over the last 2 years has long surpassed incompetence and is now bordering on criminal negligence.

It is crystal clear to anyone and everyone with a pulse that this iteration of the Rangers- manager, big league club, farm system, and payroll- is a dysfunctional mess that is, to put it nicely, not working (unless their goal is to be just good enough not to finish in dead last).

But CY absolutely refuses to commit to a concrete plan. You can only afford to wait and see MAYBE one season. But the writing is on the wall that a massive sell-off is needed and a big restocking of the farm system is in order.

I would even support an all-in buyer’s approach, as foolish as that would be, over this nonsensical apathetic inactivity. At least that would show a true commitment towards achieving something. You either have to go for it all or rebuild. Assess the club and the MLB landscape and determine if you have what it takes to win a championship.

The asset management is atrocious. When Josh Smith was at his highest value last season, that was the time to trade him. Same goes for Cole Winn. But CY did his “let’s wait and see what happens next year” routine, and now we’re giving Josh Smith away for NOTHING.

One of three things has to be true here. Either: a) CY kept Josh Smith because he truly viewed him as a talented piece around whom to build and now Josh Smith is washed, in which case CY doesn’t know how to judge talent, b) Josh Smith can still be a valuable piece at the ML level, in which case CY just gave away a useful future piece for a pile of garbage, or c) CY did suspect Josh Smith would only decrease in value as of last season and still did nothing, in which case he is just purely negligent. None of those cases make him look like a competent GM in any way.

Either go all-in and actually buy REAL players (not scrap heap reclamation players) or sell off all players with any kind of value on the team now who don’t have a role in the future.

Keep Langford and Carter at the ML level, Walcott and Scarborough (and maybe a couple others) at the minor league level, and trade off everything else anyone will take.

Even Mozeliak of the Angels has made a decision and is acting. He looked at their dumpster fire and said “this organization sucks and needs massive changes, so we’re selling”. He’s come in and traded Silseth, O’Hoppe, Soriano, and Addel.

Meanwhile, CY won’t commit to being a buyer or seller. He flip flops from week to week. One week it’s buyers, so he will only commit to a minor move of adding Silseth and O’Hoppe. The next week he changes his mind, decides we’re sellers, and makes one absolute nothing of a move.

We’re not sellers or buyers and haven’t been for a solid 2 years now.

I hate to sound like an optimist, but August’s schedule is very favorable.
We are getting two good pitchers back from injury.
This team could still make some noise.
We aren’t that good, but Houston is not that good either. They are hot, but that runs both ways, and it will with them too.
