Series Thread: Rangers Travel to Chicago to Play the White Sox For Three Games August 24-26

One thing that we can probably count on is the Rangers not being eliminated until the last few days of the season, if they are eliminated.

The Rangers face a tough young pitcher tonight in Sean Burke. Over his last 15 games he has an ERA of 2.83 with a WHIP of 1.08. During that time he has struck out 104 in 86 innings. They did a good job against a good pitcher last night, though.

One thing that is up air and that could vary by a very wide margin is which draft slot we will end up with. There are going to be 2 or 3 teams next July that get a tremendously better choice in the draft than teams that they are pretty much equal to.

To add a little context, three of those games were against teams with very poor hitting when measured by OPS.

They put Watson in there to pitch in the 9th instead of Joyce who struck out the side in the 9th last night. Watson blew the save in the 8th last night. Joyce didn't pitch in game 1 so he was rested. Go figure.

Joyce is coming off shoulder surgery. I’m sure they don’t want to take a chance on him pitching consecutive games and blowing his shoulder out with the Angels going nowhere.

The Orioles have won and are now a half game behind us in the wildcard standings. Toronto is edging closer along with the Twins and the Mariners.

Detroit continues to fade.
