From The Prospect Times:

Eric Loomis threw a scoreless inning tonight for the RoughRiders.

1 IP, 1 SO, 14/9 strikes

When asked about his slider development on media day: “I was struggling to scratch 83 with it last year — it was just spinning in there, holding the zone too long, we’re in the mid-to-upper 80s consistently in the zone with that, and it’s starting to punching tickets with it.”

From Matthew Harris:

Leandro Lopez is done for the night after he got the Opening Day start for Frisco against Corpus Christi. Lopez struggled with the zone a bit in the 3rd and 4th innings, but he definitely had his swing and miss stuff tonight as he picked up 6 strikeouts in 4.2 no-hit innings.

What stood out from the jump was Lopez’s slider. I reached out to a source in the Rangers org, and he confirmed that Lopez tinkered with his slider shape in the offseason. It definitely paid off, as it flashed significantly more depth tonight while getting several whiffs. Especially from Lopez’s high arm slot, I expect that pitch to play quite well this season.

Another thing that stood out to me was Lopez’s changeup. One of the biggest points of improvement Lopez needed to make over the offseason was his changeup consistency, and I would say that was a success as well. Lopez has been throwing a kick-changeup for a little over a year, and tonight was the first time I’ve seen it have consistent noticeable depth and late drop. If you needed any evidence of that claim, look no further than the final pitch of the at bat in the 1st video.

Definitely too many walks for Lopez tonight, but he didn’t let any traffic get to him and he made pitches when he needed to. You’ll never hear me complain about a start where a pitcher goes 4.2 innings of no-hit ball. A really strong start to what is hopefully a very strong year for Lopez.

From Jeff Wilson:

Of note, Cody Bradford tossed two innings in his first rehab start, allowing two wind-aided solo homers. He’s still looking at a mid-May return.

I am under Vince Brink in Pittsburgh.
Btw I made a couple of good friends this way when I use to be a Washington Redskin fan. Lol Iam sure you guys would despised me then being most of you are Cowboys faithful.
Alot changed over the last 5 years as you all know to the point where I despise the team. Its not just the name change but all the garbage with the previous owner and some with the new owner.
Yes I have rooted for the Cowboys over Wash for the last 3 years.
Its like the woman you have loved for so long and she continues to hurt you and then one day you just have had enough.
Rangers are number 1 and always will be.
