This roller coaster of a season has been rattling down the tracks. The latest steep climb has been something to behold. The Raners are tied for the final wildcard spot, and are suddenly only 4 Games back of the Astros for the division lead.

The middle game of this series will be the Carter-less game as the Angels will send out a lefty. The Rangers will send out deGrom, Corbin, and Eovaldi.

The team could look different by the time they leave California. We are currently only 79 hous away from the trade deadline. The thinking by most in the media, and in the fan base, is that the Rangers will finally get around to acquiring a closer. Of course there are some who think they will pick up a hitter or two, two relievers and a starting pitcher. Those folks didn't say much attention to this psst offseason.

How much the Rangers acquire will depend on if they are willing to trade away any salary. I doubt anything significant will happen on that front.

I will mention again that I think the starting pitching, the bullpen and the lineup is performing as well lately as CY could have envisioned when he took the team he built into spring training.

I think they will pick up a closer candidate.

Hate that Eovaldi will miss the Seattle series.

Tekoah Roby has to have TJ surgery. He was on pace to be considered for a Cardinals rotation spot next year. He was having a great season in AA. The Cardinals had retooled his pitch mix and it was very successful this season.

It is great that we can be in a pennant race and still develop two young starting pitchers at the same time. That could be done with hitters as well.

Clase isn't going anywhere as MLB has placed him on paid leave while they investigate a sports-betting situation.

From Jared Sandler:

Jacob deGrom's last 15 starts
10-1
1.97 ERA
.183 BAA

deGrom has given up two or fewer runs in 17 starts this season.

Only Paul Skenes (19) and Garrett Crochet (18) have done it more often.

I guess I am alone in being glad Eovaldi gets to pitch against the Yankees. Lol

It would not suprise me if the Rangers have a little let down against the Angels and lose 2 out of 3 but come out super charged against the Mariners and take 3 out of 4.
Of course I would prefer to just keep winning.
Fans love winning streaks plus I love the positivity around the team especially going thru a tough first half

From Jared Sandler:

MLB TEAM ERA LEADERS

1) RANGERS, 3.15
2) Royals, 3.49
3) Mets, 3.52
4) Brewers, 3.58
4) Padres, 3.58

The Rangers are more than a 1/3 run better than the next best team.

I saw that and were number 1 in fielding. Hopefully the offense can get that pedestrian 231 BA going upwards. Atleast their scoring more runs

The Rangers have the third toughest strength of schedule remaining.

Funny thing is Houston just played a 4 game series at home against Oakland and were swept. You have to play good ball regardless who you are playing.

Since some of these guysbcould be involved in trade during this series, I thought I would put my list on this thread as well. I would definitely like to hold on to the top three and as many of the rest of them as we can. Depending on what all we do, three or four of these guys could be gone, soon.

I think this is how I would rank our pitching prospects right now.

1) Corniell
2) Drake
3) Davalillo
4) Lopez
5) Hagaman
6) Scarborough
7) Bratt
8) Santos
9) Rosario
10) Teodo
11) Bonzagni
12) Tiger

Currently, there is not a whole lot of difference between #4 and all the guys down to #10. A couple of weeks from now I might completely rearrange those spots. They are that close, to me.

Newly drafted, AJ Russell will most likely be in that #4 to #10 range at some point soon, as well.

The rangers are tied for the most blown saves in all of baseball.
Hope they get a closer this week. The guy in Pittsburg, Bednar gets my vote.
He won’t come cheap, but this is CYs MO, so it is what it is.

One reporter says there is a bidding war for him already

I think we get one but probably not before Thursday
Hopefully not Kenley J
