In July 1 I tried to look ahead and see what kind of record we would have to have over the next 23 games to determine which direction we would take at trade deadline time. I stated the following:


7-16 means we are sellers.
9-14 means we stand pat
10-13 means we are moderate buyers
13-10 means we acquire a major piece

One game with the Angel's wasn't played so that becomes 22 games if we get all of these in this weekend. Thus far we are 5-13.

I wonder if there is more trade action to come with Atlana and us, with this very minor transaction being a precursor to a major deal for Minor?

One thing I couldn't factor in was how the other teams would play. I think enough of them have done well to cause my results to be slightly off.

There are rumors that Toronto may extend Stroman instead of trade him. Of course, that may just be a ploy to get the offers up. If he and Bumgarner are off of the market that will help us in finding a trade partner for Minor and/or Lynn.

Heineman is past due. Just needs to stay healthy for an extended period. Could be a good first baseman.

I’d definitely stick around and watch games if that happens.


However, if JD trades everyone, and we have nothing but more odor and condor at bats to look forward too, I might just go to football early this year.
