Random thoughts on the bowl game

I am so pissed and my brain is going everywhere with my emotions so I am just going to throw my thoughts out there and it may come off as really random but that is how my brain is working now.

1. Alot of uptight Husker fans were "embarrassed" by Bo's actions from the A&M game. Well we should be much more "embarrassed" by this debacle.

2. This is what we have to sit and sulk on for the next 246 days until the next Husker game? Thanks alot!!!!!!

3. I am listening to the after game call in show and am getting sick and tired of the "Taylor is a freshman" "Taylor had injuries". BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!!!! This was the 14th fucking game of the season. There are no freshmen anymore by now.

4. You won't win many games with more penalties than points.

5. I love watching a quarterback float a pass on 3rd and 3 to a QB that can't jump because he broke his foot 5 weeks ago.

6. I am already sick and tired of people saying, "What did you expect from a team that didn't want to be there and the fans didn't care either so why should the team". This performance was not about "want to". This performance was the same thing we have seen all year. A ton of penalties and lots of fumbles. Different verse same as the first. This team did not get any better throughout the season!!!!!!!

7. There are absolutely ZERO leaders on this team. I am not going to be one of those guys and bring up the past with the Peter Bros, Wistrom, and many others. There just is not one person on this team that will step up and be a leader. You don't need to kick someone's ass or grab a facemask to be a leader. This team is just filled to the brim with indians and there aren't any chiefs.

8. If Miami (OH) hires Watson after that performance then they should be relegated to division 3 football immediately.

9. I put Bo on notice after the Big 12 title game. If Watson was still employed with the University 30 days later then all the heat from Watson goes directly on Bo. Well I will give Bo 2 more weeks to be able to give Watson a chance to find another job or for Bo to evaluate the coaches and get rid of the ones that need to go. After that then no more hate gets put on Watson and it is all on Bo.

10. Quit with the 10 win satisfaction thing. I am not saying that it sucks but back in the day 9 wins was the standard. Well that was during an 11 game schedule with a bowl game. The last 2 years we have played 14 games.

11. I would rather watch Steve Pederson's return press conference to Nebraska than any half a second of women's college basketball.


I have more but I think my brain is more than fried. I am so glad I don't have to work tomorrow/today.

I know that I have the title of "Mr. Negative" from the other board, but I am really not trying to be that. Seriously, I never thought we were in that game in the second half. I know it was a 3 point game at the half but it felt like a 30 point game. It was almost like the South Dakota St game. It was a close game throughout but I never once felt like the game was in jeopardy.

I went to bed at halftime. I knew it was over then, even though it was a three point game.

I had a bad feeling about this game since it was announced. I hate rematches. The team that lost the first game has a big advantage, even when they are a bad team, like Washington. Since the first game, we didn't improve ( hell, you could argue that we got worse ) and they did improve. We had nothing to gain by winning and they had nothing to lose, even in defeat.

I never felt NU was in that game no. Even after the one touchdown pass, which was kind of lucky that it wasn't batted down or intercepted. It wasn't so much a nice pass (as the commentators were blathering about) as it was a nice catch concentration wise.

I'm really not surprised by the outcome last night. Anything I could criticize I've criticized prior to the game. I will say I unfairly criticized Lee last season. This isn't about a specific player anymore. This is about a system. A system where an offensive coaching staff isn't motivating, teaching fundamentals, and ensuring the players are focused every play. Focused on they play called, focused on blocking assignments, focused on the snap count, focused on technique, focused on holding on to the ball.

2 delay of game penalties back-to-back is all one needs to see.

There, I've said it for the umpteenth time.

when your O-line can't stop a 3 man rush and the nose tackle gets triple teamed, but still gets to the QB like nobody's in front of him, something's wrong..

When this staff was very first put together, instantly I had a problem with Barney Cotton. There have been very brief periods of time where the line has played well, but let's be honest..........when you have a line that size, you should be able to get some push and some protection.

When Cody Green came in and we were on the 1 yard line, we ran a QB sneak. Ok, that was an obvious play call, we had to get out of there.............but watch that fucking replay. I am still pissed off about it. Keith Williams just gets blown up and falls right down on his ass. Not one Lineman got a positive push on that play........they all went backward.

And thus, Cody Green leans forward to try and get a yard or 2, and he gets stood straight up. THAT BULLSHIT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!

You misunderstood my comment. I feel Nebraska had enough of a talent edge to still beat a BAD team like Washington even while playing badly.

In our situation last night, and with a couple of BAD coaches {Watson and ole Barn} you and I both know especially after the game was about one quarter old that Washington pretty much had the game won.

Did I have negative thoughts? Of course not, and after seeing the tendencies of this poorly coached team throughout the year, my thoughts were realistic. Despite this, I was still hoping for some kind of miracle until the very end, which is what it would've taken to win the game with the strange coaching decisions made throughout the game.

By the way, I've got a niece who goes to UNL and she said it was confirmed that Zac Lee was 100% healthy and he really wanted to play. Would NU have won this game with him put in after about one and one half quarters gone? Maybe not, but it would have given this poorly coached team a spark and that may have been enough to pull out a win by one point or so... 20-19!

I would be happy with even a one point win!

My parting shot... What the heck kind of coaches do we have that wouldn't let a much more deserving QB play in that game in his last college game ever? What a bunch of pukes!

I said the same thing about Watson earlier this season. I said the buck stops with Bo when it comes to Watson's play calling and other weird game time decisions.

I understand giving the assistant coaches leeway in making decisions and trusting their decisions, but in our situation the whole football world can see that the head coach needs to take the initiative and make some changes here. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen and because of this, the whole ship will sink.
