There is a tropical depression (97L) off the Yucatan Peninsula that is expected to make landfall somewhere between the Florida panhandle and Louisiana Friday night into Saturday. Once it makes landfall it will trace Northeast.

There is currently only a 40% chance it would develop into a tropical storm by then. If so it would be named Karen. Unlikely to become a hurricane.

Karen doesn't sound too bad...

Funny how storm names effect our perception of them...

Worst one we had when I lived in S. Florida after Andrew was Hurricane Wilma. They said it would be no big deal, and ended up being one of the worst in that 2-3 year span of hurricanes we had.

That being said, I'd expect some rain/lightning delays for some of these games.

Not to mention a lot of Over/Unders and spreads potentially affected.

As of now, landfall of the Center of Circulation (CoC) will be Saturday approx. 2pm.

Models are not currently in agreement as to where, so from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle.

let it rain, let it rain, let it rain.... Go Gators!!

Wilma was the strongest storm i ever experienced first hand. Had just closed on my new house the week before and it had no shuttters. Good thing my wife was in China on business at the time. She wouldve lost her shit. Being in the eye as it passed was cool though, i must admit.

What Sooner gave you is sufficient.

The models are unreliable at this point because the storm is unorganized at it's center. It will remain unorganized until it crosses the Yucatan Peninsula. As the storm organizes the models will come more into agreement.

One thing for sure is it will head NE from wherever it's center makes landfall on Saturday. That is because of a trough (cold front) that (at the very least) will have pushed into Louisiana by that time. Tropical systems cannot bust troughs and the low level jet stream will pick it up and rapidly move it out.

The uncertainty in the models is the uncertainty in the timing of the trough, and the lack of organization of the storm.

As was pointed out, due to it's disorganization there is no reliable forecast at the moment, other that it's gonna be wet along the Gulf and East coasts this weekend.

The GFDL model has it on the Alabama coast Friday night, while the GFS model has it moving slower with landfall Saturday afternoon.

The less organized the storm is, the less effect the trough will have in how fast it's pulled north.
